Article 38. To see if the town will vote to amend Article 9-A of the Town By-Laws by striking out said article as it now appears and substituting the following.
"The hours of duty of the permanent members of the uniformed fire fighting force in the Town of Swampscott other than hours during which such members may be summoned and kept on duty because of fire or conflagation shall not exceed an average of 56 hours per week over a nine week period." authorize the Board of Health to determine in what manner and at whose expense the improvements shall be kept in repair and estimate the benefit accruing to any person by reason of such improvements and what proportion of the cost in making and keeping the same in repair shall be maintained by the town and by the persons benefitting thereby as provided by General Laws, Chapter 111, Section 136 and appropriate the necessary money therefor from available funds, by borrowing or otherwise or take any action relative thereto. Article 41. To see if the town will vote to lay a drain from Winshaw Road through Phillips Beach Avenue to Palmers Pond and authorize and direct the Water & Sewerage Board to acquire by eminent domain or otherwise the necessary easements therefor and appropriate the necessary money therefor from available funds, by borrowing or otherwise or take any action relative thereto. Article 42. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Planning Board to have a survey made of the area between Gale Road, Puritan Road, Phillips Beach Avenue, Palmers Pond and the Ocean to determine what trunk line and other sewer extensions will be necessary to take care of removing sewage and other wastes from the Littles Point and Gale Estate areas and appropriate the sum of $5,000.00 therefor or take any action relative thereto. Article 43. To see if the town will vote to extend the sewers in any or all of the following streets: Banks Terrace, Pleasant Street, Salem Street, Essex Street and install a relief in sewer system at the junction of Grant and Farragut Roads and appropriate the necessary money therefor or take any action relative thereto. Article 46. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Water & Sewerage Board to extend the water mains in any or all of the following streets: Elwin Road, Sampson Avenue, Fisher Avenue and Nichols Street, under the provisions of Section 25, Chapter 82 of the General Laws, and appropriate the necessary money therefor by transfer of the unexpended balance of the appropriation under Article 22 of the 1953 Annual Town Meeting, from available funds, by borrowing or otherwise, or take any action relative thereto. Article 77. To see if the town will vote to amend the building By-Laws of the Town of Swampscott by striking out all the provisions of the existing Building By-Laws and all amendments thereto now in force and effect and adopting in their

Article 79. To see if the town will vote to adopt the following amendments to the Wire Inspection By-Laws by adding thereto the following section:
