WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS
NORFOLK, SS. To the Constables of the Town of Weymouth in said County. GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are requested to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Wey- mouth aforesaid who are qualified to vote in Town affairs, to meet at the Odd Fellows Opera House, East Weymouth, on Friday, June 24, 1921, at seven and forty-five minutes past in the evening, then and there to act upon the following articles, namely :
Article 1. To hear reports of any committees appointed at any previous meeting and act thereon.
Article 2. To see if the Town will accept Chapter 619 of the Acts of 1920, it being an Act to establish a State Boxing Commis- sion to serve in the Department of Public Safety.
Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to sell or otherwise dispose of the Hose House pro- perty, including the land at Nash's Corner, located on Main Street, South Weymouth, and the Hose House property including the land at Weymouth Heights, located on North Street, or either of them, and to determine the terms and conditions of sale or disposition, or to take any action in relation thereto.
Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate or will appropriate the sum of Three Thousand ($3,000) dollars for the relief and support of the poor in addition to the amount heretofore appropriated for that purpose.
Article 5. To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a town way over the private way known as Rosalind Road from Bridge Street to Evans Street.
Article 6. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the working of Rosalind Road from Bridge Street to Evans Street.

Article 7. To see if the Town will accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a town way over the private way known as Babcock Avenue from Birchbrow Avenue to Bay View Street.
Article 8. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the working of Babcock Avenue from Birchbrow Avenue to Bay View Street.
Article 9. To see if the Town will vote to determine com- pensation to be paid to firemen for service in the Fire Department of the Town at the rate of one ($1.00) dollar per hour.
Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appro- priate any sum of money for the purpose of securing the contin- uance of passenger transportation on the streets of the Town by the Eastern Massachusetts Street Railway Company for a period of one year, or take any action in relation to contributing to the cost of operating of street railways in the Town, or take any other action in relation thereto.
Article 11. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to petition the Legislature for the enactment of legislation authorizing the Town to pay to Ex-Selectman Brad- ford Hawes an annuity of Three Hundred ($300) Dollars per year during his life, the said Bradford Hawes having devoted more than thirty years of his life to the service of the Town in various official capacities.
Article 12. On petition: To see if the Town will take any action towards the elimination or abatement of alleged nuisances from use of dwelling houses and cottages on and near Seaver Road and vicinity for club purposes.
Article 13. On petition: To see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate towards the purchase of a home for the American Legion Post No. 79, or towards the establish- ment of some fitting memorial for the Veterans of the World War, or take any other action in relation thereto.
Article 14. On petition : To see what action the Town will take towards celebrating the three hundredth anniversary of the settlement of the Town.
Article 15. To see if the Town will vote to incur debt to the amount not to exceed ten thousand ($10,000) dollars, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 44, Section 7, Clause 8 of the Gen- eral Laws, for macadam pavement or other road material, under specifications approved by the division of highways of the Depart- ment of Public Works, and to authorize and instruct its Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to prepare and issue notes or bonds of the Town therefor, the same to be payable in five years from the date of issue in such amounts annually as may be deter- mined, or to see what sum of money it will vote to raise and ap- propriate therefor or to take any other action in relation thereto.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
Persuant to the foregoing warrant a meeting of the inhabi- tants qualified to vote in town affairs was held at the Odd Fel- lows Opera House on Friday evening June 24, 1921. Hon. George L. Barnes, the annual moderator called the meeting to order and he was sworn to the faithful performance of his duty by the Town Clerk.

The annual moderator in well chosen words welcomed the Town Meeting Members in the new form of town government and then proceeded to the business of the warrant.
The warrant was commenced to be read by the Town Clerk and after the first article was read it was voted, that the further read- ing of the warrant be dispensed with.
Voted, That any citizen of the town who desired to speak on any article in the warrant be granted that privilege.
Article 1. Voted, That the report of the transportation com- mittee as read by Mr. Stanley T. Torrey be accepted.
Article 2. Voted, That the subject matter of this article be indefinately postponed.
Article 3. Voted, That this artcle be divided.
Voted, That the Selectmen be, and hereby are authorized to sell to the Stetson Shoe Company the land now occupied by the hose house located on Main street at Nash's Corner, with the con- dition that the purchaser move the building at his expense to a location satisfactory to the Selectmen and put the same in proper condition to be used for town purposes.
Voted, That the Selectmen be, and hereby are authorized to sell at public auction the land and hose house situated on North street, Weymouth Heights.
Article 4. Voted, To raise and appropriate the sum of $3,000 for the relief and support of the poor, in addition to the amount heretofore appropriated for that purpose.
Article 5. Voted, To accept the report of the Selectmen upon the laying out of a town way over the private way known as Rosalind Road from Bridge Street to Evans Street. (See Records of Roads page 204).
Article 6. Voted, To raise and appropriate the sum of $800 for the working of Rosalind Road from Bridge Street to Evans Street.

Article 9. Voted, That the subject matter of this article be left with the Engineers of the Fire Department.
Article 10. Voted, To raise and appropriate the sum of $2,000 and further to appropriate the unexpended balance of the Street Railway account for the continuance of passenger trans- portation on the streets of the town by the Massachusetts Street Railway Company for the year ending May 31, 1922.
Voted, That this money be expended under the direction of a Transportation Committee, to be appointed by the Moderator.

The question was put before the Town Meeting Members and was declared "Not a vote."
Article 12. Voted, That the privilege of the floor be granted D. Arthur Brown, who spoke upon the needs of abating alleged nuisances near Seaver Road.
Voted, That the subject matter of this article be referred to the Police Department and the Town Counsel, they to take any legal action they deem proper.
Article 13. Voted, That a committee be appointed by the Moderator to consider the subject matter of this article and re- port at the next annual town meeting.
The Moderator later appointed on this committee: Joseph Kelly, Byran Leonard, Jacob Wichert, Edwin R. Sampson, Al- phonzo Striano.
Article 14. Voted, That this town vote to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the settlement of the town, and a committee be ap- pointed by the Moderator to make all necessary arrangements.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
Pursuant to the foregoing warrant a meeting of the inhabi- tants qualified to vote in town affairs, was held at the Weymouth High School this Friday evening, October 21, 1921. The meeting was called to order at 7.45 o'clock by the Town Clerk and the war- rant was read by the said Town Clerk.
Hon. George L. Barnes being unable to be present at this meeting it was voted that J. Leonard Bicknell be instructed to cast one ballot for William J. Holbrook for Moderator, there being no further ballots he was declared elected as Moderator pro tem, and he was sworn as such by the Town Clerk.
Before considering the articles in the warrant the following were sworn in as Town Meeting Members: James B. B. Smith, James A. Melville, Henry A. Day, Parker T. Pearson, George A. McGowan.
Article 1. There being no reports to be heard under this arti- cle it was passed.
Article 2. Voted, That the town do not sell at public auction the lot of land at the corner of Washington and Middle Streets, known as the "Old Town House Lot."
