Mr. Morse moved an amendment to the motion of the Appropriation Committee as follows; That the extension of Edgeworth Street be accepted in accordance with plans of Russell H. Whiting Town Engineer, and that the sum of $200.00 be appropriated for the working of same.

Ed) Chapter 90 will pay a sum of money proportionate to the cost under the provision of said Chapter; provided that this work shall be performed by the Street Depart- ment; and provided that the Board of Selectmen is authorized to acquire by gift or purchase or take by right of eminent domain in fee or otherwise for all purposes of a public street or highway in and over said streets and that authority is hereby given for building any bridges, drains or conduits, or securing easements which may be necessary and that the Board of Selectmen is authorized to accept deeds of any reservation strips existing in connection with said Streets; and provided further that all damages resulting or occasioned by the construction shall be a charge against the sum appropriated.

Mr. Field for the Appropriation Committee moved; That the Town instruct the Board of Selectmen to acquire by purchase in fee for drainage or parking purposes the land abutting the "Bicknell Meadow", so called and being the northerly portion of Lot "a" as shown on a "Plan of Land in (East) Weymouth, Mass." dated January 27, 1931, Russell H. Whiting, C. E., a copy of which is duly recorded with Norfolk Deeds, and being all the land to the north of land marked "Right of Way" on said plan, which "Right of Way" runs from Shawmut Street to Lots A and B shown on said plan; and the sum $900.00 is hereby raised and appropriated for said purpose.

Mr. Field for the Appropriation Committee moved; That the sum of $12,850.00 is hereby raised and appropriated for materials to be used for the erection of a section of a sea wall along Wessagusset Beach between Station 4 x0 and 7 x 20 as shown on plan of Russell H. Whiting, Town Engineer, and dated September 23, 1935, entitled "Plan and Profile for proposed sea and Retaining Wall", and provided that this work be performed by the Highway Department.

ARTICLE 22. Mr. Field for the Appropriation Committee moved; That the Moderator appoint a committee of five who will provide an honor roll for the men and women enrolled in the present World War, and for this purpose the sum of $500.00 is hereby raised and appropriated.
Selectman Basil Warren moved to amend the recommendations of the Appropriation Committee as follows; That the sum of $2500. be appropri- ated for the erection of a temporary Honor Roll for all men and women serving in World War II.
Moderator called for action on the amendment as offered by Selectman Warren and declared the amendment as LOST.

ARTICLE 23. Mr. Field for the Appropriation Committee moved; That the Town instruct the Board of Selectmen to draw money to the amount of $83,000.00 deposited to the credit of the Laban Pratt Hospital Fund "so called" from the bank paying the smallest amount of interest and. invest such sum in Victory Bonds.

ARTICLE 24. Mr. Field for the Appropriation Committee moved; That the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $550.00 for the purpose of main- taining during the ensuing year the mosquito control works as estimated and certified to by the State Reclamation Board in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 112, Acts of 1931.

Acting under all provisions of Section 7, Chapter 61 of the Acts of 1921, you are hereby notified of a meeting of all Town Meeting Members in Precinct 8 to be held Wednesday. April 14, 1943 at 7:45 in the evening in the Selectmen's Chamber in the Town Hall.
Then and there to elect by ballot three Town Meeting Members to fill vacancies which now exist in Precinct 8 .*

At the said meeting a majority of the members shall constitute a quorum, and they shall elect from their own number a chairman and a clerk. The choice to fill any vacancy shall be by ballot, and a majority of the votes cast shall be required for a choice. The chairman and clerk shall make a certificate of the choice and forthwith file the same with the town clerk, together with a written acceptance by the member or members so chosen, who shall thereupon be deemed elected and qualified a town meeting mem- ber or members, subject to the right of all the town meeting members to judge of the election and qualification of members as set forth in section three.

In attendance were 14 Town Meeting Members constituting a majority of the total of 24 Precinct 8 Town Meeting Members.
Mr. Francis A. Farr was elected Chairman and Mr. Raymond O. Hollis was elected Clerk.
The following candidates for the three vacancies were nominated. Fred Lesh Jr., 11 Lyme Street Archer M. Nicherson, 17 Mt. Vernon West Jeanette Almquist, 58 Mt. Vernon West

Mr. William Corkey and Mr. Gordon Coyle were appointed Tellers. Ballots were distributed and the votes cast. The Tellers reported as follows:
Anthony T. Cassese, 56 Jaffrey Street 8 votes Paul C. Thayer, 42 Epping Street 8 votes Fred B. Hamilton, 75 Harding Avenue 5 votes Edwin Nealy, 757 Commercial Street 5 votes
All other candidates received 4 or less votes.
Mr. Anthony T. Cassese and Mr. Paul C. Thayer having received a majority of the votes cast were declared elected. It was voted to ballot again to dissolve the tie between Mr. Hamilton and Mr. Nealy for the third vacancy. The ballots cast as reported by the Tellers showed:
Fred B. Hamilton, 75 Harding Avenue 10 votes
Edwin Nealy, 757 Commercial Street 4 votes
Mr. Hamilton having received the larger number of votes and a majority of the votes cast was declared elected.
