WARRANT FOR SPECIAL TOWN MEETING Monday, December 6, 1954
COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS
Norfolk, ss.
To any of the constables of the Town of Weymouth, in said County.
Greeting :-
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, you are hereby required to notify and warn the Inhabitants of Weymouth aforesaid quali- fied to vote in Town affairs to meet in the hall of the Weymouth High School on
MONDAY, THE SIXTH DAY OF DECEMBER, 1954
at seven o'clock and forty-five minutes in the evening, then and there to act upon the following Articles, namely:
ARTICLE 1. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see if the Town will vote to rescind the action of the Special Town Meeting of October 4, 1954, Article 1, by which it purported to provide an additional sum over and above the regular Sewer Department appropriation to construct a sewer to the proposed Ralph Talbot Street School, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 2. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see if the Town will vote to provide an additional sum over and above the regular Sewer De- partment appropriation to construct a sewer to the proposed Ralph Talbot Street School, said sum to be available in January, 1955. and spent under the direction of the Sewer Deparment, or take any other action in rela- tion thereto.
ARTICLE 3. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see if the Town will vote to rescind the action of the Special Town Meeting of October 4, 1954, Article 30, by which is purported to accept as a gift, purchase or take by right of eminent domain in fee, as a parkin? area, lands shown on Sheet 4 and 5 of the Town of Weymouth Atlas for the year 1951, and described as Lots 15, 16 and 20 and Parts of Lot 14 in Block 22, containing approximately 78,000 square feet, or take any other action in relation thereto.
ARTICLE 4. (By Direction of Selectmen.) To see if the Town will vote to accept as a gift, purchase or take by right of eminent domain in fee. as a parking area, the lands shown on Sheets 4 and 5 of the Town of Weymouth Atlas for the year 1954 and being a part of Lot 14 in Block 22, as being shown as Lot A on "Plan of land in (North) Weymouth, Mass. (at the end of Parker and Massashit Roads) dated November 18, 1954, Russell H. Whiting, Registered Land Surveyor, North Weymouth, Mass.", containing 34,000 square feet of land according to said plan, to which plan reference may be had for a more particular description, and to see what sum of money the Town will raise and appropriate, or appropriate for such purchase or taking and for the development of said land, or take any other action in relation thereto.
You are directed to serve this Warrant by posting a copy thereof, at- tested by you in writing, in each of two public places in each voting pre- cinct in said Town, seven days at least before the time for holding the first meeting called for in this Warrant.

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING December 6, 1954
Pursuant to a Warrant duly issued, the Special Town Meeting of the inhabitants of the Town of Weymouth, represented by their duly elected and qualified Town Meeting Members, was held in the hall of the Wey- mouth High School on Monday, December 6, 1954.
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 o'clock in the evening by the Annual Moderator, Mr. Daniel L. O'Donnell.
The Town Clerk, Mr. Harry Christensen, read the call of the meeting. Upon motion duly made, it was unanimously
VOTED: That the reading of the Articles in the Warrant be suspended.
A prayer asking for Divine Guidance at this Town Meeting was of- fered by the Rev. Harold Johnson of the Sacred Heart Church.

Town Meeting Members not sworn in were administered the oath by the Moderator.
At this time the Moderator declared that a determination should be made as to whether or not a quorum was present. Tellers were sworn in. A count was taken and found that only 112 Town Meeting Members were present. The required number to make a quorum would have to be 133.
Because no quorum was present, upon motion duly made by Mr. Irving Johnson, it was unanimously
VOTED: That the meeting adjourn.
Adjourned at 8:15 P.M. due to lack of quorum.

MEMORIAL DAY COMMITTEE REPORT FOR THE YEAR 1954
To the Citizens of Weymouth:
In accordance with Article 1, Item 32 of the Annual Warrant for 1954, the following Committee was appointed by the Annual Moderator:

Thomas Campoli, Vice Commander, Weymouth Post No. 79, American Legion.
Vincent G. Fisher, Commander, Wessagusset Post No. 1399. Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Roy H. Anderson, Commander, John D. Martin Post No. 9260, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Gelormo V. Cavallo, Commander, Roger Grande Post No. 58, Amvets. John MacDonald, Commander, Ralph Talbot Chapter No. 65, Dis- abled American Veterans.
Harold Barnes, Commander, Wessagusset Chapter, Military Order of the Purple Heart No. 320.

The committee held weekly meetings at the Town Hall, East Wey- mouth. It was voted that Harold Barnes be appointed Chief Marshal and Thomas Campoli, Secretary. It was voted to visit all cemeteries on Memo- rial Day and to hold the main exercises at the Civic Center at the High School.
Memorial church services were held in the Old South Union Congre- gational Church, South Weymouth, on May 30, 1954.
All cemeteries were visited where appropriate services were held. The main parade formed in Jackson Square at 10:00 A.M. and proceeded to the Civic Center where the main exercises were held. Alter the services the Veterans proceeded to the Central Fire Station, Broad Street, East Wey- mouth where they disbanded.

A flag and potted geranium were placed on each veteran's grave, mem- orial plaques, monuments and the squares named for deceased veterans. A wreath was placed on the Ralph Talbot tablet in the State House on Friday, May 28, 1954 by Joseph J. Holland, Commander, George R. Bean Post No. 401, American Legion and Harold Barnes, Commander, Wessa- gusset Chapter, Military Order of the Purple Heart No. 320.
The program exercises at the Civic Center were:

The Memorial Day Committee is most appreciative of the assistance of all individuals and organizations who took part in and helped in the observance of Memorial Day this year.
The committee wishes to thank the Town Moderator for the early appointment of the committee as it greatly facilitated proper planning of the Memorial Day observance and allowed ample time for ordering flags, flowers, etc.
