ARTICLE 5


Voted, That the Town do authorize its Overseers of the Poor to contract at their discretion for the support of the Town's poor.


ARTICLE 6


Voted, That the Town do authorize the Town Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow during the financial year beginning January 1, 1925, in anticipation of the collection of revenue of said year, such sums of money as may be necessary for the current expenses of the Town, but not exceeding the limit fixed by law, giving the note or notes of the Town therefor payable within one year from the dates thereof and to renew such note or notes as may be given for a less period than one year, providing the limit of one year is not exceeded thereby.


All debts incurred under this authority shall be paid from the revenue of the then current year.


ARTICLE 7


To hear the report of any committee heretofore chosen, or act thereon.


. Voted, Not to accept the printed report of the Com- mittee on Building Laws for the Town of Scituate.


Voted, To reject the Building Laws as printed and that the committee be discharged with a vote of thanks.


Report of the committee on specially repaired roads chosen on March 5, 1923, read by Charles W. Peare, Secretary.


Voted, To accept the report, and the thanks of the Town be extended to the committee.


ARTICLE 8


Voted, That the Town authorize the Selectmen to prosecute, compromise or defend any suit or suits within the Commonwealth in the name of the Town.

Voted, That the Town do instruct its Selectmen to control, regulate or prohibit the taking of eels, clams,

quahaugs, razor fish and scallops within the Town of Scituate in accordance with Chapter 91, Section 85, Revised Laws, as amended by Acts of 1913, Chapter 517, and further amended by Acts of 1915, Chapter 86, General Laws.


ARTICLE 10


Voted, That Articles 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 53 and 66, all calling for electric lights at specified points, be left to a committee to investigate the question of street and house service in anticipation of reducing the rate and the proper locations for street lights.


Voted, That the Moderator appoint a committee of nine including the Moderator.


Committee appointed: The Selectmen, Ernest R. Seaverns, James W. Turner, Herbert G. Summers, Archie L. Mitchell, Walter Haynes, Charles W. Peare, Fred T. Bailey, Harvey H. Pratt and Dennis H. Shea.

Will the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $10,000 for the purchase of a Triple Combination Pumper, etc.

Will the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $300 to install one Beacon signal light at the corner of Country Way, Curtis and Branch Streets, etc.

ARTICLE 21


Voted, That the Town accept as printed Article 21, and that we authorize and instruct the Park Commissioners to acquire by purchase or taking by right of eminent domain the parcel of land described in the article, viz .: Second Cliff, Bassing Cove Beach.


A certain lot of shore and upland beach, bounded beginning at the southeasterly corner of the premises at mean low water, thence north 31° 59' 35" west along the extension of the southwesterly line of the county road by land of Livington, Cushing and Frank Owen White, trustees, being as shown on a plan accompanying a deed of mutual release between Walter L. Curtis and said Cushing and White, trustees, one hundred seventy (170) feet to land of William E. Supple and Annie E. Brown, one hundred fifteen and forty-one hundredths (115.41) feet to a corner by land of said Brown; thence north 34° 41' 48" west on land of said Brown sixty-three and twenty-five hundredths (63.25) feet to a corner; thence south 53º 38' 55" west on land of said Brown four hundred forty-two and two hun- dredths (442.02) feet to land of the late Patrick Curran; thence south 31° 02' 24" west on land of said Curran three hundred forty and seven hundredths (340.07) feet to land of Anna F. Turner and the late Wesley C. Merritt; thence south 66° 15' 23" east on land of said Turner and Merritt two hundred fifty-two and five tenths (252.5) feet to mean high water mark of the water of Massachusetts Bay; thence by the course to low water mark and thence by the low water mark northwesterly to the point of beginning or however otherwise bounded or described.


This description includes all of the flats or tidal beach between high and low water mark and adjacent to the southeasterly boundary of the upland or upland beach so called, which is lawfully a part of the above described premises whether as appurtenant thereto or otherwise.

Voted, That the Town accept the layout of the Select- men making Orchard Road, Dreamwold Road and Lawson Road as recorded at the Town Clerk's office, Town ways.


ARTICLE 71


Will the Town raise and appropriate the sum of $2,000 for the resurfacing of First Parish Road commencing at the Methodist Church and going easterly, etc.


Voted, To indefinitely postpone. Left to Committee on Roads.


ARTICLE 72


Voted, That a committee composed of the Chairman of the Advisory Board, the Highway Surveyor and the Select- men be a committee to determine after a public hearing held by it, what highways in the Town shall be specially repaired, the character of the work to be done and the nature and contract for its performance.


ARTICLE 73


Voted, To raise and appropriate the sum of $30,000 for the repairs and rebuilding of highways under the direction of the committee heretofore chosen and that the amount of $30,000 be assessed in the tax levy of the current year.
