J. Bazley, and that the Light Commissioners be directed to carry out any action taken under this article .- Board of Selectmen.

Article 34. To see if the town will raise and appropriate a sum of money for new construction and improvement in the street light system, and also raise and appropriate such additional sums or sum as may be necessary to cover the estimated expense of installing the street lights which are voted under the preceding article .- Edwin C. Miller and others.

By the consent of the meeting Mr. W. C. Robbins offered the following Resolution which was unanimously adopted.


RESOLUTION No. 2


That the Town Clerk be and is hereby instructed and directed to com- municate in the name of the town with the town's Representative and Senator from this district and request them to assist in any way possible to bring changes in the laws of the Commonwealth that will permit gardening and general agricultural work on Sundays during the continuance of the war in which this Nation is now engaged.

REPORT OF TOWN CLERK


Moderator appointed the following committee under Article 26.


J. Richard Lunt, Arthur H. Boardman, Charles C. Cox, Chester W. Dalrymple, Percival B. Evans, Michael J. Neagle, John G. Reid, Samuel T. Parker, Willis C. Robbins, Ashton H. Thayer.


Article 35. To see if the town will authorize the Treasurer to pay certain bills or claims of John Minnikin against the town for services and materials furnished the Light Department, the said bills and claims being more than six years old, provided said bills and claims are approved by the Light Com- missioners .- M. Voted: That the town authorize the Treasurer to pay certain bills or claims of John Minniken against the town for services and materials furnished the Light Department, the said bills and claims being more than six years old, provided the said bills and claims are approved by the Light Commis- sioners, Town Counsel and Town Treasurer.


Article 36. To see if the town will extend the sewer on Converse Street from Jordan Avenue to 47 Converse Street, and raise and appropriate money therefor. Patrick Dinan and others.

Voted: That subject matter of this article be indefinitely postponed.


Article 37. To see if the town will raise and appropriate the sum of $175.24 to reimburse H. S. Kelsey and $653.74 to reimburse Morrison-Skinner Co., Inc., being the sums they respectively advanced to defray the labor cost of laying water pipes in Sheffield Road and New Salem Street .- Albert R. Perkins and others.


Voted: That the town raise and appropriate the sum of $175.24 to reimburse H. S. Kelsey and $653.74 to reimburse Morrison-Skinner Co., Inc., being the sums they respectively advanced to defray labor cost of laying water pipes in Sheffield Road and New Salem Street, and that the same be added to the construction account of the water Department.


Article 38. To see if the town will raise and appropriate a sufficient sum to purchase land of the Heirs of Arria Cotton, south of Crystal Lake, about 222,615 square feet, or what they will do about it .- John K. Ferris and others.

Voted: That the subject matter of this article be referred to a committee consisting of the Water Commissioners, with addition of three other members.


Article 39. To see if the town will vote to take or purchase any or all the land on the westerly shore of Crystal Lake and owned by the Securities Co-operative Association, or to see what the town will do about it .- Charles A. Bowser and others.

Voted: That the town authorize the selectmen to appoint an additional permanent police officer who shall receive the regular rate of police officers' pay and raise and appropriate the sum of $900 therefor, the same to be added to the police department appropriation.

Voted: That the School Committee is hereby authorized to establish and maintain a State Aided Vocational Agricultural Department in connection with the High School, in accordance with Chapter 471 of the Acts of 1911, and any Acts in amendment thereof or dependent thereon, and that the Town raise and appropriate the sum of five hundred ($500.00) dollars to be added to the school appropriation for this purpose.


Voted: That the sum of $2,500 be raised and appropriated and that the same be added to the school appropriation.


Article 47. To see if the town will vote to sell the marsh land situated in Saugus, owned by them, or what they will do about it .- Hugh Connell.

Voted: That the town accept the offer of Forrest L. Mitchell to purchase the town's marshland situated in Saugus and authorize the Treasurer to execute and deliver in the name of the town a deed therefor at the rate of $50.00 per acre.
