Voted that the Town grant its Collector of Taxes the authority in making collections for the Town possessed by the Town Treasurer.


Voted that the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen be and is hereby authorized to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the Town of the financial year beginning Jan. 1st 1923 and to

issue a note or notes therefor payable within one year, any debt or debts incurred under this vote to be paid from the revenue of said financial year.


Voted that the Town officers required by the General Laws to be bounded shall furnish bonds from the Massachu- setts Bonding Co.


Voted that the Town raise and appropriate Eight Thousand Dollars to resurface a section of Spring Street from Pearl Street westerly to Summer Street with reinforced Cement provided the Mt. Hope Finishing Co. will add a like amount of money for the work and that all necessary contracts and supervision of the work be by the Mt. Hope Finishing Co.


Voted that the Town raise and appropriate Eighteen Thousand Dollars to macadamise Centre Street westerly from the west end of the present macadam to Williams street providing the County will aid with an allotment of seven thousand dollars towards the cost of construction and that the Selectmen supervise the work and make all necessary contracts for and in behalf of the Town and secure engineering service.


Voted that the Moderator appoint a committee of three with George H. Gilbert as Chairman to make investigation of the subject of forestry and report at an adjourned meet- ing to be held the first Thursday in April at 7.30 P. M. and Ralph Earle and J. Harvey Briggs were appointed.


. Voted to raise and appropriate $86. to pay for installing electric lights in the Town Hall.


Voted that all unexpended money appropriated for the use of a department and collections made by a department and in the town treasury be applied to the use of the department for which it was originally appropriated.


A motion was made by J. K. Milliken that we raise and appropriate fourteen thousand dollars to macadamize Williams Street southerly from the south end of the 1921 construction to the Swansea boundary line provided the State or County will allot a like sum.

It was then voted this article and motion be referred to the next annual town meeting.


Voted that $2500. be expended under the direction of F. Arnold Shaw in purchasing a new fire truck and changing over the chemical tank on to the same and support of the engine house for the year and $2,500. be expended by John W. Synan for the purchase of a chemical truck for the North Village.


Voted that the price of labor on Highways and Bridges be the same as last year which was $7.00 per day for a double team and Man and $3.00 per day for a man.


Voted to accept report of Town officers as printed.


Voted all salaries of town officers be same as last year.


Voted that all labor on highway construction be done not later than Nov. 1st.


Finance committee appointed by Moderator.

The Special election to fill a vacancy in representative 5th Bristol District resulted as follows.


Edward F. Kennedy has 15 Harry A. Woodard has 105. At the adjourned Annual Meeting held April 5.


A motion was made to reconsider the vote whereby we voted to instruct the Selectmen to petition for the installa- tion of an accounting system. It was then voted to post- pone the further consideration of this Motion until the next Annual Town Meeting.


Ralph Earle reported for the committee on town forest this report was accepted as a report of progress, and the committee was requested to report after further investiga- tion at an adjourned Meeting May 3d.


At the Town Meeting held May 3rd it was voted that it was inexpedient to purchase any land this year for a town forest but that the committee would set out young pine on the land now owned by the town.

At the special meeting of the town held on May 17 it was voted to instruct the selectmen to execute a deed of a tract of land located on Prospect Street in the north part of Dighton to the Mt. Hope Finishing Co. in exchange for a tract of land belonging to said Company in accordance with a plan made by Arthur T. King civil engineer and on file with the Selectmen.
