BOARD OF PUBLIC WELFARE
To the Honorable Board of Public Welfare:
I herewith submit my report on Old Age Assistance, Aid to Dependent Children, Disability Assistance and Public Wel- fare for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1959.
During the year twenty-six applications were processed and disposed of as follows:

During the year eighteen cases have been closed for the following reasons:

On January 1, 1959 there were forty Old Age Assistance cases and on January 1, 1960 there were 41 cases with one application pending. Expenditures decreased from $49,766.92 to $49,255.70.

Aid to Dependent Children cases totalled three on Janu- ary 1, 1959 and on January 1, 1960 there were two cases with one application pending. Expenditures decreased from $3,899.60 to $2,900.38.
On January 1, 1959 there were five Disability Assistance cases and on January 1, 1960 there remains one active case. Expenditures decreased from $5,727.10 to $3,242.80.
At the beginning of the year two General Relief cases were being aided. During June and July there were no active cases. On January 1, 1960 there are two cases. Expenditures increased from $4,033.15 to $4,591.95, there being more per- sons aided in other towns and cities holding a Carver settle- ment.
Medical care represents approximately 25% of all public assistance granted.
One lien was filed on the real estate of an Old Age Assist- ance applicant as a condition in granting assistance. One lien was released after $1,366.55 was recovered.
