To the Honorable Board of Selectmen
Carver, Massachusetts
Gentlemen:
In July the library was moved to its new quarters upstairs in the auditorium. This required five new bookcases to hold juvenile books and a cabinet for the periodicals. Twelve sturdy maple chairs were purchased for the young adults' area on the platform and a book-truck to aid in shelving returned books and magazines.
- 78-
Our first volunteer student library assistant was a high school girl. a summer resident. who spent many of her vacation hours helping the regular librarian. We now have a seventh-grade girl being trained in library service.
In November we held our first Book Fair. Some excel- lent posters were made by the school children. and book- marks by the Girl Scouts. We wish to thank these young people. their teachers, their leaders, and the "Friends of the Library" who planned and conducted the fair. as well as those who attended and in any way contributed to its success. The proceeds helped purchase the new book-truck.
Again let us express our gratitude to the donors of many good books and magazines, and to the members of the Carver Garden Club for the flowers and plants they have provided throughout the year.
"Reading is the Key" National Library Week - April 12-18. 1964.
Respectfully submitted.
