In accordance with the Warrant of the Selectmen, the nnual Town Meeting was held at the Community House, ebruary 18, 1958.
Action on the Articles of the Warrant was as follows: ARTICLE 1. Voted: That Article 1 be laid on the ble until after Article 41 has been acted upon. (Motion rried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 2. Voted: That the Town accept the reports f all officers and committees as printed in the Town Report. Motion carried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 3. Voted: That the whole of the dog money ceived from the County Treasurer in the sum of $1,250.73 e used for the Storrs Library. (Motion carried by unanimous te.)
ARTICLE 4. Voted: That the Town appropriate the m of $30,000.00 for a Reserve Fund, transfers from which hay be voted by the Appropriations Committee and that id sum be transferred from Overlay Reserve. (Motion rried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 5. Voted: That the Town choose three ustees to administer the William Goldthwait Bequest and hat Jane B. Swett, Eugene Bushong and Richard A. Booth e chosen as such trustees. (Motion carried by unanimous ote.)

ARTICLE 7. Voted: That the Town authorize the Town Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen, to borrow money from time to time in anticipation of the revenue of the financial year beginning January 1, 1958, and to issue a note or notes therefor, payable within one year, and to renew any note or notes as may be given for a period of less than one year in accordance with Section 17, Chapter 44, General Laws. (Motion carried by unanimous vote.)
ARTICLE 8. Voted: That the Town raise and appro- priate the sum of $3,300.00 for the purchase of a new truck for the Park Department, and in addition thereto authorize said Park Department to surrender the truck to be replaced for its fair value against said purchase. (Motion carried by unanimous vote.)
ARTICLE 9. Voted: That the Town raise and appro- priate the sum of $2,600.00 for the purchase of steel frame portable bleachers, 3 sets, 48 feet each, 6 tiers for use in Playgrounds in the Baseball Areas. (Motion carried by unani- mous Vote. )
ARTICLE 10. Voted: That the Town raise and appro- priate the sum of $8,000.00 for the purchase of Catch Basin Cleaning Equipment for Water and Sewer Department use. (Motion carried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 11. Voted: That the Town raise and appro- priate the sum of $2,000. to meet the town's share of the cost of Chapter 90 Highway Maintenance and that, in addi- tion, the sum of $4,000.00 be transferred from unappro- priated available funds in the treasury to meet the State's and County's shares of the cost of the work, the reimburse- ments from the State and County to be restored, upon their receipt, to unappropriated available funds in the treasury. (Motion carried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 12. Voted: That the Town transfer from the unexpended funds as voted under Article 27 of the Warrant for the 1956 Annual Town Meeting, and as voted under Article 12 of the Warrant for the 1957 Annual Town Meeting, the sum of $4,500.00 to meet the town's share of the cost of Chapter 90 Highway Construction to resurface and widen part of Laurel Street, northerly from the intersec- tion of Shaker Road, and that, in addition the sum of $13,500.00 be transferred from unappropriated available funds in the treasury to meet the State's and County's share of the cost of the work, the reimbursement from the State and County to be restored, upon their receipt to unappro- priated available funds in the treasury. (Motion carried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 13. Voted: That the Town accept as a public way or street that portion of Emerson Road from the westerly line of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Co., westerly about 695 feet to West Road, as laid out by the Selectmen and establish the grade thereof in accordance with a plan dated January, 1958 on file in the office of the Town Clerk, and authorize the Board of Selectmen to take by eminent domain an easement under Chapter 79 of the General Laws of the Commonwealth for highway purposes in connection therewith; and raise and appropriate the sum of $1.00 for land damages or other costs incurred. (Motion carried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 14. Voted: That the Town accept the provi- sions of Chapter 718 of the Acts of 1956 and the apportion- ment to the Town of Longmeadow by the Department of Public Works of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts under the provisions thereof. (Motion carried by unanimous vote.)
ARTICLE 15. Voted: That the Town expend the sum of $40,401.51 apportioned to the Town of Longmeadow by the provisions of Chapter 718 of the Acts of 1956 for the following purposes; for grading and paving Pondside Road, Birnie Road and Emerson Road and for the construction of islands at the intersection of Williams Street and Bliss Road. (Motion carried by unanimous vote.)
ARTICLE 16. Voted: That the Town raise and ap- propriate the sum of $11,000.00 for the purchase of a front end loader for Water and Sewer Department use. (Motion carried by unanimous vote.)
ARTICLE 17. Voted: That the Town accept as public way or street, Williams Court, from the north line of Williams Street northerly about 350 feet to the south lot line of Richard Salter Storrs Library of Longmeadow, as laid out by the Selectmen and establish the grade thereof in ac- cordance with a plan dated January, 1958, on file in the office of the Town Clerk; and raise and appropriate the sum of $6,000.00 to drain, grade and pave the same and install a sanitary sewer therein and authorize the assessment of better- ments therefor. (Motion carried by unanimous vote.)
ARTICLE 18. Voted: That the town accept as a public way or street, Robin Road, from the north line of Maple Road, northerly about 830 feet to the southerly line of Tedford Drive, as laid out by the Selectmen and establish the grade thereof in accordance with a plan dated January, 1958, on file in the office of the Town Clerk; and raise and appropriate the sum of $5,100.00 to drain, grade and pave the same and authorize the assessment of betterments therefor. (Motion carried by unanimous vote.)
ARTICLE 19. Voted: That the Town accept as a public way or street, Maplewood Street, from the north line of Maple Road, northerly about 740 feet to the southerly line of Tedford Drive, as laid out by the Selectmen and establish the grade thereof in accordance with a plan dated January, 1958 on file in the office of the Town Clerk; and raise and appropriate the sum of $7,300.00 to drain grade and pave the same, and to install proper storm drainage therein and authorize the assessment of betterments therefor. (Motion carried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 20. Moved and seconded: That the Town authorize its Board of Selectmen, to purchase, take by eminent domain under Chapter 79 of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or otherwise acquire an easement for the construction, repair, maintenance and use of a surface water drain, within the limits of Fenwood Road and raise and appropriate the sum of $1.00 for land damage or other costs inccured therefor.
At this time a motion was made and seconded to amend the article by striking out the word "purchase."
On being put to vote the amended motion was declared lost. The original question was called for and was voted unanimously.
ARTICLE 21. Voted: That the Town authorize its Board of Selectmen, to purchase, take by eminent domain under Chapter 79 of the General Laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, or otherwise acquire an easement for high- way purposes, in a strip of land located at the westerly end

f Fairway drive, a private way, and described substantially ; follows; westerly by the easterly line of Fenwood Road s shown on a plan filed in the office of the Assistant ecorder of the Land Court for Hampden County and being lentified as No. 26589A, easterly by the westerly end of airway Drive as shown on said plan; southerly by the ortherly line of Lot No. 58 as shown on said plan; northerly y the northerly line of Fairway Drive extended westerly to tersect the easterly line of Fenwood Road as shown on said lan; being a part of Lot No. 57 as shown on said plan; d raise and appropriate the sum of $1.00 for land damages : other costs incurred therefor. (Motion carried by unani- ous vote. )
ARTICLE 22. Voted: That the Town construct a rain in Fenwood Road, together with the necessary drain anholes, catch basins and cross drains from the existing rain at Station 3+ 20 more or less northerly to Station 3+ 25 more or less which is the intersection of Fairway rive with Fenwood Road and raise and appropriate the sum $8,500.00 for said drain and authorize the assessment betterments therefor. (Motion carried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 23. Voted: That the Town accept as a ablic way or street, Fairway Drive from the westerly line Hazardville Road, westerly about 670 feet to the easterly ne of Fenwood Road as laid out by the Selectmen and tablish the grade thereof in accordance with a plan dated nuary, 1958, on file in the office of the Town Clerk and ise and appropriate the sum of $10,800.00 to drain, grade d pave the same and install a sanitary sewer therein, and thorize the assessment of betterments therefor. (Motion rried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 24. Voted: That the Town accept as a iblic way or street, that portion of Wenonah Road from e westerly end of the February 23, 1927 acceptance, westerly out 440 feet to its intersection with York Drive, as laid it by the Selectmen and establish the grade thereof in cordance with a plan dated January 1958 on file in the fice of the Town Clerk. (Motion carried by unanimous te.)
ARTICLE 25. Voted: That the Town accept York rive as a public way or street, from the easterly line of ongmeadow Street, easterly, southeasterly, easterly and south- ly about 1190 feet to a point about 22 feet south of the utherly line of Lot 13-A, as laid out by the Selectmen and tablish the grade thereof in accordance with a plan dated nuary, 1958 on file in the office of the Town Clerk. Motion carried by unanimous vote. )
ARTICLE 26. Moved and Seconded: That the Town quire by purchase or eminent domain for schoolhouse and rounds purposes, and such other purposes as public school roperty may be used, the land located in the Town of ongmeadow and described as follows:
Beginning at an iron rod set in the northerly line of merson Road, said iron rod being 1119 feet westerly along e said northerly line of Emerson Road from a stone bound the intersection of the westerly line of Longmeadow Street ith the said northerly line of Emerson Road, and running ence westerly about 43 feet along the said northerly line Emerson Road to a stone bound; thence northwesterly, ong the northerly line of Paul R. and Caryl F. Hammerich out 660 feet to a stone bound; thence northerly about 122 et to a stone bound; thence northeasterly 172 feet to a one bound, the last two courses being along land of Walter 7. and Marjorie R. Whittum; thence northeasterly about 144
feet along land of Edwin S. and Agnes R. Munson to land of Joseph Chapdelaine, Inc., thence southeasterly about 820 feet along land of Joseph Chapdelaine, Inc. and others; to land of Gertrude W. Poliwczak; thence southwesterly about 170 feet along land of Gertrude W. Poliwczak and thence continuing southwesterly about 278 feet along land of Victor L. and Julia G. Maroni to the point of beginning.
Also a triangular strip of land described substantially as follows:
Beginning at an iron rod in the northerly line of Emerson Road distant 16.86 feet westerly of the southeasterly corner of land owned by Victor L. Maroni and Julia G. Maroni, and running thence along the northerly line of said Emerson Road N 89° 56' 06" W. 88.66 feet to an iron rod; then N 18º 41' E, 33.67 feet to an iron rod and thence S 67º 39' 52" E 84.19 feet to an iron rod at the point of beginning.
