TOWN WARRANT
Worcester, Ss. To either of the Constables of the Town of Southbridge, in the County of Worcester,
GREETING :
In the name of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts you are hereby requested to notify the inhabitants of the Town of Southbridge, aforesaid, qualified to vote in town affairs to meet, in the Town Hall in said Southbridge, on Monday the seventh (7) day of March, A. D. 1927, at 5.45 o'clock in the forenoon to act on the following articles :
Article 1. To choose a moderator to preside over said meeting.
Article 2. To choose by ballot all town officers for the ensuing year :- Viz: Clerk; Treasurer; three Selectmen ; one member Board of Public Welfare for three years; one mem- ber Board of Health for three years; one Assessor for three years; Collector of Taxes; two members of the School Com- mittee for three years; one member of the School Committee : or two years; one Park Commissioner for three years; one Sinking Fund Commissioner for three years; one Sewer Com- missioner for three years; two Cemetery Commissioners for three years; Tree Warden; Highway Surveyor; three Con- stables and all others provided for by law.
Article 3. To vote by ballot "YES" or "NO" in answer to the question, "Shall licenses be granted for the sale of certain non-intoxicating beverages in this Town."

Article 4. To hear the reports of the Town Account- ant; Clerk; Treasurer; Selectmen; School Committee; Lib- rary Committee; Sewer Commissioners, etc., and act any- thing thereon.
Article 5. To raise and appropriate such sums of money as may be necessary to pay town debts and charges for the current financial year.
Article 6. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Treasurer with the approval of the Selectmen to borrow in anticipation of the revenue of the current financial year or act anything thereon.
Article 7. To see if the town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to cause an audit to be made of the Town's) Ac- counts of 1927, or act anything thereon.
Article 8. To see if the town will vote to pay its En- ginemen or act anything thereon.
Article 9. To see if the town will vote to give the Collector of Taxes the same power to collect taxes that the Town Treasurer has when appointed Collector of Taxes.
Article 10. To see if the town will vote to have all taxes due and payable October 1, 1927, and if not paid on or before October 17, 1927, to have interest charged at the rate provided for by law from October 1, 1927, or act anything thereon.
Article 11. To see if the town will vote to fix the com- pensation of town officers, or act anything thereon.

Article 12. To see if the town will vote to accept the report of the Selectmen, as to the laying as a public way a certain way known as Newell Avenue, leading from South Street, over land of Felix A. Bouvier and others.
Article 13. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a certain sum of money to carry on the work of the Planning Board, or act anything thereon.
Article 14. To hear and act on the report of the Se- lectmen, as ordered under Article 26, of the last annual town meeting, in relation to the re-location and repairs of Lebanon Hill Road, raise and appropriate money therefor or act any- thing thereon.
Article 15. To hear and act on the report of the Select- men under Article 14 of the last annual meeting, relative to the selling of Town Barn Property and purchasing other sites for same purpose.
Article 16. To hear and act on the report of the En- gineering Department, under Article 37, of the last annual meeting, relating to a sewer on Charlton Road (called Golf Woods Road) raise and appropriate money therefor or act thereon.
Article 17 To hear and act on the report of the En- gineering Department, under Article 41 of the last annual town meeting, in relation to drainage of surface water on Worcester, Thomas and Olney Avenue.
Article 18. To hear and act on the report of the En- gineering Department, under Articles 50 & 56 of the last annual town meeting, relative to street lights.

Article 19. To see if the town will vote to install and maintain a flashing traffic beacon light, at the intersection of Main, Hamilton and Goddard streets, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 20. To see if the town will vote to authorize the engineering department to make a municipal survey of the town for the purpose of establishing street lines, setting stone bounds and other incidental work, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 21. To see if the town will vote to discharge the Committee appointed to revise the town by-laws, under Article No. 38 of the Town Meeting held March 1, 1915 or act anything thereon.
Article 22. To see if the town will vote to appoint a committee to revise the by-laws of the town, raise and ap- propriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 23. To see if the town will vote to raise and appropriate a certain sum of money to balance overdrawn ac- counts of 1926, and to pay outstanding bills, or act anything thereon.
Article 24. To see if the town will vote to construct a cement concrete road on Main Street, beginning at the end of the present cement road at junction of Main and Oakes Ave., westerly to the brick paving at junction of Main and Hamil- ton streets, with a curb on the westerly side, raise and appro- priate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 25. To see if the town will vote to construct approximately 2000 feet of macadam road on Eastford Road, continuing the piece constructed in 1926 from the bridge op-

posite the residence of Herman A. Persson in a southerly di- rection to the corner or turn next beyond Durfee Street, where it would join the improved road constructed by the town in 1915, to raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 26. To see if the town will vote to construct a permanent road on Dresser Street beginning at Elm Street westerly to the foot of Toboggan Hill by the westerly line of land of Myron B. Clemence, raise and appropriate money therefor, or act thereon.
Article 27. To see if the town will vote to construct a permanent road on Hartwell Street, beginning at Eastford Road westerly to Marcy Street, raise and appropriate money therefor or act thereon.
Article 28. To see if the town will vote to re-grade and re-build the sidewalk on the southerly side of Main Street, from Everett Street to the Southbridge Savings Bank Building, and to build a new sidewalk on the westerly side of Everett Street, extending 150 feet southerly from Main Street, as shown on plan submitted to the United States Government, by Thomas McGovern, C. E., raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 29. To see if the town will vote to build a sidewalk on the northerly side of Rose Street and a sidewalk on the westerly side of Green Avenue, in said Southbridge, beginning at the junction of Rose and Mechanic Streets in an easterly direction to the junction of Rose Street and Green Avenue and then northerly to the northerly line of land of Luigi Salce, raise and appropriate money therefor or act any- thing thereon.

Article 30. To see if the town will vote to construct a cement concrete sidewalk and gutter on the northerly side of Dresser Street, extending from the westerly side of Chapin Street to the property of Thomas Thimblin, Hrs., raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 31. To see if the town will vote to construct a sewer in Main Street from Union Street easterly to Oakes Avenue, raise and appropriate money therefor or act any- thing thereon.
Article 32. To see if the town will vote to place the tract of land known as the Dresser Street Playgrounds, under the sole direction of the Park Commissioners, raise and ap- propriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 33. To see if the town will vote to continue the improvement of the Dresser Street Playgrounds, raise and ap- propriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
Article 34. To hear and act on the report of the com- mittee of six to whom was referred the question of the build- ing of a junior High school at the March meeting of the year 1926.
Article 35. To see if the town will vote to authorize the building committee of six to procure plans and specifica- tions, including working drawings for a building suitable for the Vocatitonal School or act anything thereon.
Article 36. To see if the town will vote to install and maintain additional street lights on the following streets : three (3) on Newell Avenue; one on Moon Street and seven (7) on Fiske Street, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.

Article 37. To see if the town will vote to construct a sidewalk on the northerly side of Columbus Avenue, from Park Ave. to Prospect Street, raise and appropriate money therefor or act anything thereon.
And you are directed to serve this Warrant by publishing an attested copy thereof twice in the Southbridge News, Herald, Press, the first publication being not less than nine days next preceding the day of the meeting,-or by posting up such attested copies in four conspicuous places within the Town, at least nine days, including Sundays,-before the day of holding said meeting. The polls will be open at 5:45 o'clock A. M., and close at 6:00 o'clock P. M.
Hereof fail not, and make due return of this Warrant with your doings thereon to the Town Clerk at the time and place hereinbefore named.
