REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE
ON THE
REDUCTION OF THE CITY DEBT.

THE Joint Standing Committee on Finance, acting as a Com- mittee on the Reduction of the City Debt, beg leave to report as follows :-
That under the provisions of Section 12 of the " Ordinance in relation to Finance," there was loaned on the 31st day of December, 1873, to the Treasurer of the City, the sum of $90,578 58
That the above sum, together with interest, amounting to 2,807 93
making a total of $93,386 51
was duly applied, on the 6th day of July last, towards the pay- ment of the City Debt maturing in 1874, leaving the balance of said debt then maturing, viz :
35,813 49
to be paid out of funds in the Treasury not otherwise appro- priated-the amount falling due in June and July, 1874, being
$129,200 00
That under the provisions of Section 11 of said Ordinance, there has been duly appropriated, and entered on the books of the Auditor during the past financial year, the following amounts, viz :
from the proceeds of taxes of 1874, the sum of $30,000 00
Balance of income from water, the sum of
22,044 26
making a total of $52,044 26
which sum has been loaned, on interest, to the Treasurer of the City, under the provisions of Section 12 of the Ordinance aforesaid, and the note of the City, dated December 28, 1874, received therefor.
