Committee, explained that there had been a mistake in the recommendation of the Committee in not including "Original equipment and furnishings," and on his recom- mendation the following was
Voted: (Unanimously) That the sum of one hun- dred and twenty thousand (120,000) dollars be and here- by is appropriated for the construction of an eight-room addition to the schoolhouse called the Peirce School, in- cluding original equipment and furnishings, situated on land of the Town on Park Avenue Extension, increasing the floor space thereof: that for this purpose the sum of twenty thousand (20,000) dollars be raised by general tax, and for the balance one hundred thousand (100,000) dollars the Treasurer, with the approval of the Selectmen, be and hereby is authorized to borrow said sum of one hundred thousand (100,000) dollars and to issue bonds or notes of the Town therefor, said bonds or notes to be payable in accordance with the provisions of Section 19 of Chapter 44 of the General Laws and all acts in addi- tion thereto or amendment thereof, so that the whole loan shall be paid in not more than twenty (20) years from the date of issue of the first bond or note or at such earlier date as the Treasurer and Selectmen may determine; and that said appropriation be expended under the direction of a committee consisting of the committee appointed under vote passed March 28, 1928, to procure plans and specifications for the construction of an eight- room addition to the present Peirce School building, and the Inspector of Buildings; said committee to have the power to fill any vacancy in its membership.

Article 4 taken up. (Library Bequest of Ellen W. Hodgdon)
Voted: (Unanimously) That the Town do accept the bequest in the will of the late Miss Ellen W. Hodg- don, deceased, said bequest being as follows: "I give and bequeath to the Town of Arlington for the benefit of the Robbins Library, the sum of one thousand (1,000) dollars in memory of my father, Richard Lord Hodgdon, the in- come to be used for the purchase of books and the fund to be administered and expended by the trustees of the Robbins Library, or those succeeding the trustees in the management of the Library."
The following resolutions were offered by William A. Muller, and the same were adopted by a unanimous standing vote.
WHEREAS Ellen W. Hodgdon has given to the Town for the benefit of the Robbins Library, $1,000 in memory of her late father Richard Lord Hodgdon, which gift has been accepted by the Town.
BE IT RESOLVED that the appreciation of the Town for this gift be gratefully acknowledged. The donor was a life-long resident of the Town and was identi- fied with many of its most worthy philanthropic activi- ties. The gift was in memory of a father, who, for many

years practiced medicine in the Town and was one of its most distinguished and valued citizens, and was a trustee of the Library from 1853 to 1892.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these resolutions be spread upon the records of the Town and a copy of the same sent to the family of the late Ellen W. Hodgdon.
Article 5 taken up. (Junior High School West- Walks, Grading Grounds and Playground)
Voted : (Unanimously) That the sum of $4,000 be and hereby is appropriated for walks, drives, and drain upon and the grading of, the grounds and play- ground of the Junior High School West; and that said sum be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of the committee appointed under vote passed April 4, 1928, to construct an addition to the "Junior High West" building.
Article 6 taken up. (Alteration of Mill Street)
Voted: (Unanimously) That the alteration of the way known as Mill Street, from the northerly side line of Massachusetts Avenue a distance northeasterly of ap- proximately twenty-four (24) feet, more particularly described in Article 6 of the warrant, as made and re- ported by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works, be accepted, said way as so altered, es- tablished, and said Joint Board authorized to take land for the purpose; and that the sum of twelve hundred twelve and 51/100 (1,212.51) dollars be and hereby is appropriated for the construction of said way as so altered, including land damages and the cost of any pave- ment and sidewalks laid at the time of said construction, said sum to be raised by general tax and expended under the direction of said Joint Board.

ADJOURNED MEETING
Arlington, April 3, 1929.
Pursuant to the vote of adjournment on March 27, 1929, the Town Meeting Members met in the Town Hall on Wednesday, April 3, 1929, notices having been sent by mail by the Town Clerk seven days before the meeting and posted at two places in each precinct. A notice was published in the local. paper.
Lists of the duly qualified Town Meeting Members were used at the entrances of the meeting place and were in charge of Albert K. Peirce and James E. Sweeney.
The Check Lists filed with the Town Clerk at the close of the meeting showed that one hundred eighty- four attended the meeting.
The meeting was called to order at eight o'clock by the Moderator, Curtis H. Waterman.
Town Meeting Members not already sworn were sworn by the Moderator.

Voted: That if the remaining articles in the Warrant calling this meeting are not disposed of on this date, the meeting when it adjourns, adjourn to Wednesday even- ing, April 10, 1929, at eight o'clock.

Voted : (Unanimously) That the laying out of a town way from the end of the present accepted portion of Hemlock Street to a point approximately ninety (90) feet northerly from Lansdowne Road, substantially in the location of the private way known as Hemlock Street, as more particularly described in Article 21 of the War- rant, under the provisions of law authorizing the assess- ment of betterments, as made and reported by the Joint Board of Selectmen and Board of Public Works, be ac- cepted, said way established and said Joint Board author- ized to take land for the purpose of said way.
