REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON THE LAYING OUT OF


TENNYSON ROAD


The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading having deter- mined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require the laying out of a town way under the provisions of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, substantially in the location hereinafter described, having complied with all requiremnts of law relating to notice to the owners of land thereof and of a hearing thereon, and having met at the time and place appointed for such hearing and then and there heard all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a town way for the use of the town running Southwesterly from a town way now known as Wadsworth Road, substantially as and in the location of the private way known as Tennyson Road, the boundaries and measurements of said way as so laid out are as follows:


Beginning at the most Southwesterly terminus of said Wadsworth Road, at the most Easterly terminus of the Southeasterly side line of this layout;


Thence S. 88°-43'-10" W., by lands of Barbara N. Zimmer, lands of Donald J. Linnell and Virginia T. Linnell, and lands of Lauson S. Hub- bard and Hilda B. Hubbard, a distance of 139.93 feet to a point of curve;


Thence by a curved line to the Left, running in a Southwesterly direction, having a radius of 100.0 feet, still by lands of said Lauson S. Hubbard, et ux, and by lands of Walter J. Duffy and Elizabeth F. Duffy, a length of 127.49 feet to a point of tangent;

Thence turning and running N. 62°-40'-02" W. across said Tennyson Road, a distance of 48.07 feet to a point, said point being the most Southwesterly terminus of this layout and the Southerly terminus of the Westerly side line thereof;


Thence N. 40°-20'-10" E., by a portion of a proposed private way known as Tennyson Circle, by lands of Frederick W. Laidlaw and Lillian J. Laidlaw and Lorretta L. Gallagher, by a proposed road, by lands of William A. Westwater and Jean W. Westwater, Edwin S. Bottelsen and Lillian L. Bottelsen, and lands of Harold Wrigley and Margaret A. Wrig- ley, a distance of 323.74 feet to a point of curve;


Thence by a curved line to the Left, running in a Northeasterly direction, still by lands of said Harold Bottelsen et ux, and by lands of Herbert Higginbotham, Jr. and Doris M. Higginbotham, a length of 70.58 feet to a point of tangent;

Peckham, a distance of 139.93 feet to a point, said point being situated at the Westerly side line of said Wads- worth Road, and also being the most Easterly terminus of the Westerly side line of this layout;


Thence S. 1°-16'-50" E., along said Westerly side line of Wadsworth Road, a distance of 40.0 feet to the point of beginning.

We determine that no damage will be sustained by any person or persons in their property by reason of the taking to be made for this improvement. All acts in connection with said laying out are done under the provision of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and betterments are to be assessed therefor.


This laying out so made by us we hereby report to the Town for acceptance and recommend that said way shall thereafter be known as a public town way and named Tennyson Road, and that the sum of Nine Thousand Sixty-five ($9,065.00) Dollars be raised and appropriated for said laying out and for the construction of said way.

Article 36. On motion of John W. Harrison, it was voted that the Town accept the report of the Board of Public Works on the laying out of a Private Way known as Whittier Road and adopt the recom- mendations contained therein, and that the sum of Fourteen Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty ($14,760.00) Dollars be transferred from Surplus Revenue and appropriated for the laying out and construction of said way, said sum to be apportioned as follows: Seven Thousand Seven Hundred ($7,700.00) Dollars for Salaries and Seven Thousand Sixty ($7,060.00) Dollars for Expenses, and that the Town Accountant be and he hereby is authorized to transfer said sum to carry out the purpose of this vote.

We determine that no damage will be sustained by any person or persons in their property by reason of the taking to be made for this improvement. All acts in connection with said laying out are done under the provision of law authorizing the assessment of betterments, and betterments are to be assessed therefor.


This laying out so made by us we hereby report to the Town for acceptance and recommend that said way shall thereafter be known as a public town way and named Whittier Road and that the sum of Four- teen Thousand Seven Hundred Sixty ($14,760.00) Dollars be raised and appropriated for said layout out for the construction of said way.

Hopkins, Jr., it was voted that the Town accept the report of the Board of Public Works on the laying out of a Private Way known as Winslow Road and adopt the recom- mendations contained therein, and that the sum of Five Thousand Six Hundred ($5,600.00) Dollars be transferred from Surplus Revenue and appropriated for the laying out and construction of said way, said sum to be apportioned as follows: Two Thousand Nine Hundred ($2,900.00) Dollars for Salaries and Two Thousand Seven Hundred ($2,700.00) Dol- lars for Expenses, and that the Town Accountant be and he hereby is authorized and instructed to transfer said sum to said account to carry out the purpose of this vote.

The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading, having deter- mined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require that the public highways be laid out, relocated or altered as and in the location hereinafter described, having complied with all require- ments of law relating to notice to owners of land thereof, and of a hearing thereon, and having met at the time and place appointed for such hearing, and then and there heard all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out as a Town Way for the use of the Town, running in a Westerly direction from the Public Town Way known as Winslow Road as accepted in March, 1950, a distance of 560.0 feet to Glenmere Circle, substantially as and in the location of the Private Way known as Winslow Road, the boundaries and measurements of said way as so laid out are as follows:


Beginning at a point on the Northerly side line of said Winslow Road, said point being located on a curved line in said Northerly side line of Winslow Road having a radius of 1980.00 feet, a length of 124.15 feet Westerly from a Stone Bound marking the Easterly terminus of said curved line having a radius of 1980.00 feet; said point also being the most Westerly terminus of said Northerly side line of Winslow Road as accepted as a Public Town Way in March, 1950;


Thence by a curved line having a radius of 1980.00 feet, running in a Northwesterly direction, by lands of Paul A. Beckert, Jr. and Sonja K. Beckert, and lands of Raymond William Warren, a length of 128.95 feet to a point of compound curvature;

Hopkins, Jr. it was voted that the Town accept the report of the Board of Public Works on the re- locating or altering of the location lines of a portion of Curtis Street and a portion of South Street at the northwesterly terminus of said streets and adopt the recommendations contained therein.

REPORT OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS ON THE RELOCATION OR ALTERATION OF THE NORTH WESTERLY CORNER OF SOUTH STREET AND CURTIS STREET


The Board of Public Works of the Town of Reading, having deter- mined and adjudged that common convenience and necessity require that the public highways be laid out, relocated or altered as and in the location hereinafter described, having complied with all require- ments of law relating to notice to owners of land thereof, and of a hearing thereon, and having met at the time and place appointed for such hearing, and then and there heard all persons present who desired to be heard, have laid out, relocated or altered as public highways for the use of the Town, the Northwesterly corner of South Street and Curtis Street. The boundaries and measurements of said public highways as so laid out, relocated or altered are as follows:


Beginning at the intersection of the Northerly side line of South Street with the Westerly side line of Curtis Street;


Thence N. 84°-12'-00" W., along said Northerly side line of South Street, by lands of Harry R. Walker and Louise B. Walker, a distance of 26.11 feet to a point;


Thence by a curved line running in a Northeasterly direction, having a radius of 20.0 feet, through lands of said Harry R. Walker et ux, a length of 36.68 feet to a point on said Westerly side line of Curtis Street;


Thence S. 9º-17'-30" W., along said Westerly side line of Curtis Street, still by lands of said Harry R. Walker et ux, a distance of 26.11 feet to the point of beginning.


The approximate area taken is one hundred fifty five and four tenths (155.4) square feet.
