THE MERCHANTS AND MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION.
One of the main functions of the Merchants and Manufacturers' Association, which is the powerhouse of progress in Baltimore, is to protect and promote the welfare of the factories ALREADY IN BALTIMORE. While the Association is active in the mission work of bringing new concerns here, it realizes that the main essential to the prosperity of any city is to help upbuild and expand the industries it already has.
Their success is of equal, if not superior, importance to the introduction of new enterprises. Their success, in truth, is the best advertisement with which to attract new industries.
For that reason the Merchants and Manufacturers' Association specializes on making itself useful to local factories. Its Civic and Industrial Bureau makes itself active in miscellaneous directions, helping the various manufacturers in their big and little problems. In tax matters, municipal matters, public service matters, labor matters, transportation matters and hundreds of other matters, the Association is at the beck and call of its members.
DIRECTORY LIBRARY.
Copies of the latest editions of directories of other cities throughout the United States and Canada are on file in the office of the publishers, 253 Equitable Building, where they are accessible for reference. A cordial invitation is extended to all sub- scribers to make frequent use of this library. Copies of this Directory are placed in Directory Libraries of all the principal cities, where they serve to represent the city and its business interests.
The publishers take this opportunity of thanking the Merchants and Manufac- turers' Association and the citizens for the valuable assistance rendered in the way of furnishing information concerning themselves and their business for this Direc- tory : also the public-spirited and progressive business and professional men for the support given in the way of patronage.
