KANSAS 8 PER CENT. LOANS
-: SEND FOR: -
WM. C. KNOX & CO'S Kansas Investor's Guide.
Containing the Compiled Laws of Kansas Relating to the Mortgage Contract and Taxes, Map of Topeka and State of Kansas; References and Full Information about our Method of Loaning.
WE DO NOT OFFER 3 OPTIONS for investors but THE ONE, and that is our UNCON- DITIONAL GUARANTEED 8 PER CENT. LOANS. Interest and principal collected and re- mitted to lender on date of maturity FREE OF COST.
Do not loan your money at 6 and 7 per cent. interest when you can as easily get 8 per cent. on the same class of security. Money is worth 8 per cent. interest, and is bringing that in this State. If a 6 per cent. loan is made a second mortgage is taken for the other 2 per cent., and if a 7 per cent. loan is made a second mortgage is taken for the other I per cent., and in addition, the agents get the usual commission. WHY NOT GET THE FULL BENEFIT YOURSELF ON YOUR MONEY ?
We have a capital of $100,000 to back our guarantee, but the best guarantee possible is the character of the loan itself.
Loans range in amounts of $300 to $10,000, but generally $400 to $3,000; two to five years time; security three to four times the amount of the loan.

B 0 GUARANTEED INTEREST,
0 Capital $100,000.00 and One-Half {}} Net Profits,
We receive money in amounts of $500 to $20,000 to be invested in real estate in the name of the purchaser. We issue our INVESTMENT CONTRACT, guaranteeing the investor 8 per cent. interest per annum and one-half (2%) net profits, purchaser giving us exclusive right to sell at any time we think it most profitable, allowing us one-half (%) net profits as commission.
We have resided in this State and city for over 20 years, and have visited and operated in nearly every county in the State.
We are well acquainted with real estate values. Have made from 20 to 50 per cent. per annum on real estate investments during the past four years. The present outlook is more favorable than ever for such investments.

INTRODUCTORY.
Herewith is presented to our patrons and the general public a second issue of the Baltimore City Directory.
The edition for 1887 had a total of 1,158 pages of names, while this edition has 1, 178 pages-a gain of twenty pages over the 1887 edition.
The Directory for last year contained the names of 141,276 persons. In this volumn their are a total of 150,764 names-a gain during the last directory year of 9,488 names.
While these figures show that the city is having a steady yearly growth in population, the Classified Directory presents the fact that almost every trade, profession and manufacturing enterprise known to other leading cities of the country is fully represented.
The information contained in the Appendix-has been carefully revised, and it is a true reflex of the religious, educational and social interests of the city.
The excuse made by some business men for not ordering the Directory is, that in a city like Baltimore no necessity exists for its annual publication. . As evidence to the contrary, we state that during the canvass for this volume, which was made mostly in the last six weeks of 1887, no less than 2,250 vacant dwell- ings, stores, offices, etc., were found. After the canvass was completed Dec. 31, 1887, these vacant places were again visited, when fully one-half of them were found occupied. This shows that there are between ten and eleven hundred changes in location of places of business, residences, etc., every month.
These changes and the influx of new residents seem to make the annual pub- lication of the City Directory an imperative necessity.
All that experience, a liberal outlay of money and the aid of a corps of trained canvassers could do to make the present edition entirely reliable and correct has been done.
To the business men who have given the publication their support in the way of subscriptions and advertising favors our thanks are extended, and to those who never buy a Directory, we would say that in the future, as in the past, we will use our best endeavors to have their information accurately and briefly inserted.
