Is located in the Horseshoe formed by the Potomac River, six miles from Barnesville Station, Metropolitan Railroad, and same distance from the Canal, and thirty-two miles from Washington. Principal products- Wheat, Corn and Hay. From fifteen hundred to two thousand head of Cattle are grazed for market in the District. Soil sandy, gray and red ; ranging from fifteen to fifty dollars per acre. A Public and Private School largely attended; also, Briarly Hall Seminary for Young Ladies, ably conducted by Mrs. Mary E. Porter and daughter, with a large attendance. Population, 275.
