REPAIRS OF SCHOOLHOUSES

Purinton Schoolhouse .- Painted and new front door. Adams Schoolhouse .- Painted and new windows.

29

Center Schoolhouse .- Painted.

W. Bowdoin Schoolhouse .- Painted.

Carr Schoolhouse .- A new closet.

Borough Schoolhouse .- Repairs on ceiling.

Stoves repaired for Center, W. Bowdoin and Wheeler schools. Closets of Wheeler and Starbird schools repaired. The Adams and Purinton scholhouses have been painted in- side and ceilings whitened, walls papered and new curtains. The curtains for the Adams school were furnished by the ladies of that district and the painting and papering of the rooms of both houses were done by the ladies of those dis- tricts for which they ought to receive the thanks of the town.

NEEDED REPAIRS

Starbird and Wood schoolhouses .- Painting and foundation of Wood schoolhouse repaired. Fences will have to be rebuilt at the schoolyards of the Wood, Wheeler and W. Bowdoin schools. Ceiling and walls of Borough school- house in bad condition but a better foundation ought to be put in before these repairs are made.

We ask for an appropriation of $150 for this work.

GENERAL STATEMENT.

We are pleased to note a great improvement in our schools over last year, due mostly to our teachers who have not only labored hard to do thorough work but to instill in the child a desire for an education and noble man and womanhood. We think we have received more help from parents this year for which we are very thankful. We real- ize how much more influence the parent has over the child

30

and indirectly over the school than any other factor. And to the scholar of today which is the citizen of tomorrow is due the best that can be given.

Respectfully submitted, A. P. SMALL, W. L. MALOON, F. S. ADAMS, Committee.

FANNIE J. MARSHALL, Supt.
