The Edward Little Professorship was established in 1875. This title was transferred from the Chair of Mental and Moral Philosophy to that of Rhetoric, Oratory and English Litera- ture in 1880. On the division of the latter professorship in 1897, it was applied to the chair of Rhetoric and Oratory.
