The importance of keeping firm and product names in the public eye is recognized by all business men. It is astonishing to see how a firm or product, however meritorious, will slip into the limbo of the forgotten if not persistently advertised.

ORIGIN AND LOCATION
The town of Roxboro was formed in 1793 as the County Seat of Person County. It derived its name from a city in Scotland (spelled Rox- burgh). It is the only incorporated community in Person County which lies in the North Piedmont section of North Carolina, bordering Virginia on the North; Granville County on the East; Durham and Orange Coun- ties on the South and Caswell County on the West. Situated on Highway 501 thirty miles North of Durham, N. C. Roxboro is located in the midst of beautiful rolling hills, enjoying an elevation of 715 feet; a healthy cli- mate with a mean temperature of 58.7 degrees, and an average annual rainfall of 46 inches.
POPULATION AND SIZE
The incorporated city area covers approximately two square miles and has a population of around 5500, with an additional 5000 or more within a radius of 21/2 miles. Being the only incorporated community in a radius of 25 miles and with Person County having in excess of 25,000 population, Roxboro serves a wide area as a trade, employment and civic center. Population approximately 70% white, 30% negro, 99.5% American born.
