PREFACE
(Continued from page 10)
The chief employment in Person County is about equally divided as to Industry and Agriculture. Flue-cured tobacco is the principal cash crop, however, cattle, hogs, poultry, hay, wheat, corn and oats are prominent on the farms in this area. Many of the industrial and commercial employees here live on the farm and commute to their work daily.
The City has an auction tobacco market with six tobacco ware- houses covering about 175,000 square feet of space for tobacco sales. Each season about 10,000,000 lbs. of tobacco is auctioned on this market, bringing into the hands of the farmers approximately $5,200,- 000.00. There is produced in Person County about 15,000,000 lbs. of tobacco each season. There is also located here a modern tobacco redrying plant. There are several grain markets and mills in the area. One poultry processing plant, and a sweet potato processing plant and market.
COMMERCIAL
The retail stores of Roxboro are probably above average for a community of this size. This is due to the wide field without com- petition. There is an excellent coverage in department stores, groceries, and chain grocery stores, drug stores, jewelry stores, ladies wearing apparel, haberdashery, hardware, farm implement and farm machinery distribution, automobile sales of most all makes of cars, and well equipped garages and repair shops, automobiles accessories and parts, and building materials, sporting equipment, boats, etc.
COMMUNICATIONS
Service is furnished by the Morris Telephone Co. (recently sold to Western Power and Gas Co.) with modern dial service equipment, which has connection with the American Telephone and Telegraph Co. and subsidiary companies for long distance connections.
Also, Western Union Telegraph Co. with an uptown associate office.

COMMUNITY PRIDE AND CO-OPERATION

ELECTRIC POWER
where there's NO SMOKE there's NO
fire
And that is the unique advantage of flameless electric househeating.
Since there is no flame, there are no products of combustion such as moisture, soot, grime or smoke. Electric heat consumes no oxygen thus insuring a clean, constant, healthful supply of air.
Still further, you gain the dis- tinctive benefit of room-by-room control which only electric heat provides. If you are wondering how it compares in operating cost, just ask your CP&L representa- · tive to show you case histories and actual operating records. In this way, you can prove to your- self that flameless electric house- heating costs no more than older methods of flame-type heat.
REMEMBER - only flameless electric heat provides matchless Medallion Living.
