Robt.Louis Stevenson's Works FREE.
THIS Balmoral edition of the works of Robert Louis Stevenson contains his best novels, his best poems, his best essays and his best short stories. They number 121 in all and include practically everything of any importance that Stevenson ever wrote. This edition is not on sale at the bookstores. It is a new edition printed from clear, new type and can be secured only from us. There are six volumes - aggregating 2976 pages- printed on opaque wove book paper and handsomely bound in red ribbed cloth. The titles are stamped in real gold leaf, and each volume is illustrated.
Scarcely a household but contains some lluminated motto or verse from Steven- son's writings. Stevenson was one of the few authors who could not put pen to paper without saying something graceful and worth reading; his versatility is amazing. As a good old swashbuckling tale of adventure, "Treasure Island" is a classic. Among historic novels, "Kidnapped" is unrivalled ; and in "The New Arabian Nights" and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde," nothing can excel the fer- tility of plot and sustained interest. In his "Child's Garden of Verse," Stevenson caught the beautiful spirit of childhood in perfect manner. As an essayist, he had no peer. Of all writers of the Victorian era, Stevenson's fame seems most secure. Others are gradually forgotten, while PD his reputation grows steadily day by day.

Stevenson's personality, SO aboundingly seen in all his works, is wholesome, pure and blithesome, his works are filled with high cour- age, sane philosophy and nobility of soul.
He was an apostle of good cheer and always, as William Sharp says, "A writer of infinite charm." This power to charm young and old ex- tends to all his writings.

PREFACE
We herewith present Volume XIII of the Winston- Salem, N. C., city directory.
The directory is more than a mere list of residents, with their occupation and addresses ; it is a complete and accur- ate guide to your city, your government, your institutions and other organizations. It is a history of your city.
There is no other publication in the world which gives the information contained in the City Directory, therefore there is probably no other publication in which all the peo- ple are so vitally interested.
To gather the data and compile a volume of this char- acter, is no easy task. It requires time, system, patience and incurs no little expense. Very few people have any idea of the work it means and the tenacity it takes to get out a complete directory.
The directory is one of the foremost enterprises of any city. Therefore it should receive your liberal support, for without such it can not exist.
This volume contains 14,820 names of individuals, using the multiple 21/2 times, to represent the names of the women and children not included in the directory, indicates a popu- lation of
37,050 for Winston, Salem and Suburbs
In concluding we desire to thank our patrons for their support, and the public in general for the courteous way in which they received and furnished our representatives the required data.
Yours truly.

No Moonshine-Just Plain, Un- varnished, Cashable Facts About Poultry Profits
If there ever was a straight-from-the-shoulder, look-me-in-the-eye and hold-up-your-right-hand statement of facts, you'll find it in JOEL M. FOSTER'S book, "THE MILLION EGG FARM."
Mr. Foster owns the famous Rancocas Poultry Farm, and in his book he tells his methods for producing upward of eleven hundred thousand eggs a year and piling a clean annual profit of close to $20,000.00
We know that the statements in this book are cold facts-be- cause we proved them by an ex- haustive investigation before publishing THE MILLION EGG FARM for distributing to Farm Journal subscribers. We have sold many thousand copies of this book, and we know from the actual experiences of those who have read and followed it, that these facts can be profitably applied by you-whether you have a dozen hens on a back lot, or number your fowls by the thousand.
Up in Scranton, Pa., a clerk, Robert Liddle by name, seeking to better his fortunes, read this book, followed its directions, and at last reports was cleaning up $17.00 a day profit on eggs.
In the light of such ex- periences, weknow that farmers need this book. That's why we publish it and are trying to put itintothe hands of every poultry owner. To serve the Farmer is the whole purpose of FARM JOUR- NAL. To serve him with sound advice regarding every branch of farm work.
The Million
Farm
Int FARM Jov44 ....
To enable him to profit by the labor-saving and money-mak- ing discoveries of other farmers. To serve the farmer's wife with helpful suggestions. To serve the farmer and his entire family with clean, wholesome entertainment.
FARM JOURNAL has its own way of presenting facts in crisp, interesting, readable form. It is the National Farmer talking in a human, understandable, sym- pathetic way to the individual farmer. It is educational with- out being tiresome. Itis bright, cheerful and clean to the core. Fakes, quacks and all other swindling advertisers are for- ever barred from its columns.
Upward of four million readers welcome its monthly visits. Two or three copies will make you a confirmed reader of Farm Jour- nal. You need this paper and you need the MILLION EGG FARM book. None of us ever know so much about our work that we can't learn any more.
To take advantage of this combination offer of the paper for four years and the book at once, postpaid, for a dollar, will be a wise and thrifty thing to do. Do yourself and family the favor of sending in the dollar to-day. Use the coupon.
