that, today, our state is one of the foremost educational states in the union. It is the home of many col- leges and universities that are at- tended, annually, not only by stu- dents from every section of this state and nation, but by students from many foreign countries. Goldsboro has supplied the state of North Carolina with supreme court judges, superior court judges, some of the state's greatest educators, and several national cabinet mem- bers.
.
Goldsboro has an ideal climate, being the dividing line between the frigid climate of the North and the enervating climate of the tropics. Here are found nine months of summer, with only three of au- tumn or winter temperature, none unpleasant.
Here one is within a daylight journey of New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Savannah, Atlanta and Jacksonville.
Here one is within a thirty-hour ride of Boston, Quebec, Montreal, Toronto, Buffalo, Cleveland, Cin- cinnati, Detroit, Chicago, St. Louis, Louisville, Memphis, New Orleans, Mobile and Palm Beach, embracing an area containing a population of over seventy million.
Here one is within a few hour's ride of the finest surf bathing on the Atlantic Coast on the beaches or Wrightsville, Morehead City and Beaufort; and here one can live in the warmth of a genial sun and yet be in touch with the life of the na- tion.

NORTH CAROLINA
Health conditions are ideal, the death rate averaging less than nine to a thousand. The city owns its splendid water system, furnishing at a minimum cost the purest of soft drinking water. Goldsboro has seven social and civic organizations working in harmony and for one special purpose, which is to build a city which meets the require- ments of every class of people. Liv- ing conditions, from a health stand-point are beyond criticism and living conditions from a finan- cial stand-point are within the means of all. Electric power, gas, telephone and water rates are equal to those of the average city. Being located in an agricultural district, country produce is plenti- ful and reasonable in price. All rcads leading into Goldsboro are hard-surfaced. Hotel facilities are ample. Board and room in private homes is available and modern apartment houses have been pro- vided.
Wayne county ranks high in agriculture. Here are grown hay, alfalfa, field peas, cabbage, beets, beans, English peas, truck garden products, strawberries, dewberries, huckleberries, melons, peaches, plums, cherries, apples, pecans and numerous products of the soil. This is the land where three crops can be grown on the same soil during the year, and a land which, by rea- son of its freedom from rocks, is easily and economically tilled. Here can be produced from one acre of land, 1,500 pounds of tobacco, or 1,500 pounds of cotton.
Thirty years ago Goldsboro was a village of very few inhabitants. The soil, always unusually fertile, had scarcely begun to yield the wealth that is now pouring out in such abundance. The production of tobacco, now a great industry, was then only being introduced in this section. The contrast be- tween the Goldsboro of that day and 1938 is amazing. Population has greatly increased. Manufac- turing industries employing hun- dreds of workers at a good scale of wages now occupy acres that were then open fields.
Today Goldsboro is an ideal location for factories. The diver- sified industries now here are in a flourishing condition, developing to a marked degree each year, and the combination of climate, loca- tion, transportation, health, hospi- tality and other favorable condi- tions will produce a substantial and steady growth in population and wealth, justifying the judgment of investors and homeseekers who lo- cate here.
Wayne County has good roads of great importance to the farmer and the motorist, and adding to the pleasure and convenience of all who reside in this section.
It is recognized today that the great South, with its amazing number of undeveloped resources and possibilities of development, its superior conditions for agricul- tural production, and its healthful and charming climate, affords the best field of opportunity. The only

debatable question is: Which Southern state and what location in that state offers the best com- bination of the particular condi- tions one desires.
Wonderful is the South, and great beyond our dreams will be its future, but in all these Southern states there will be none to com- pare in the rapidity of its growth with the pre-eminently well-favored state of North Carolina.
Write or wire our organization for detailed information about Goldsboro.
WAYNE COUNTY
A section that offers attractive possibilities and opportunities to home-seekers, regardless of their trade or profession, Wayne County is located in the great agricultural section of North Carolina. While its major industry is agriculture. Goldsboro is the county seat and is the center of a great manufactur- ing section. Goldsboro, due to its transportation facilities, hydro-
electric power, all-American white and colored, male and female labor and its access to numerous raw ma- terials including lumber, clay, cot- ton and numerous farm commodi- ties, ships its manufactured pro- ducts consisting of lumber, furni- ture, agricultural implements, stock seed, cotton seed oil pro- ducts, grits, meal and numerous other commodities to every state in the nation. The preface in the front of this book gives more de- tailed information regarding Golds- boro and Wayne County and we in- vite your attention to this preface. It will give us a great deal of plea- sure to furnish detailed informa- tion to anyone interested in locat- ing in our section, where our sum- mers are pleasant, our winters are mild and our hospitality makes everyone who locates with us feel at home.
