Because of the unrivalled package car service of the Southern Railway's Spencer Transfer, and because of its nearness to all important eastern markets, Salis- bury is an ideal location for that new factory, branch plant, branch warehouse or wholesale organization.
The South is forging ahead and the executive who has the vision and foresight to grasp the possibilities the "NEW SOUTH" offers is planting seed that will bring a rich harvest
Salisbury, the center of a marketing area of more than half a million people offers unparalleled opportunities for any type of industry or business. The city and sur- rounding area are rich in industrial and economic resources with an abundance of educational, religious and recreational facilities available.

LIVINGSTONE COLLEGE
Salisbury, North Carolina
Livingstone College-
the chief school of the A.M.E. Zion Church, is located in Salisbury, in the western part of North Carolina. Its position on the main line of the Southern Railroad makes it easily accessible from any direction.
This College was founded in 1879, opened its doors in Concord, N. C., in 1880, and moved to Salisbury in 1882. The illustrious Joseph Charles Price was the first president of the new College. The aim of the institution, has from the beginning, been to serve humanity and the Negro race by training young men and women for Christian leadership. During the fifty-nine years of its operation as a College, Livingstone has given to the Negro race and to the world some of the outstanding charac- ters of the time. Many of the leaders in American life today are graduates of Livingstone College.

CREDIT BUREAUS
and the greatest of these is . . .
Character A message to parents and educators on the need of Character-Forming As a Part of Every Child's Training
Character, Capacity and Capi- tal are the three standards by which business men judge ap- plicants for credit. And CHAR- ACTER comes first.
For, a man may have Capital, plenty of money. He may have Capacity -the ability to earn more. But without Character- the willingness to pay promptly according to agreement - his promises are worthless. The man with character can be de- pended upon to keep his promi- ses and meet his obligations.
Character is a child's heritage, strengthened by the example of the parent and the precept of the teacher during early years-the formative period
Character is honor - a high sense of personal responsibility and respect for one's obligations. And every child has the right to be trained in the tenets of honesty and fairness in meeting his obligations. Otherwise his education is incomplete - his chance for success is impaired.
