Biddle University
CHARLOTTE, N. C,
Biddle University, founded by the Presbyterian Church in the U. S. A., has four departments, namely: Normal and Preparatory, Arts and Sciences, Theological and Industrial.
The Preparatory and Collegiate Departments have each two courses of study, Classical and Scientific; the Scientific omitting the Greek and Latin Classics.
The Normal and Preparatory School is designed to prepare the student for teaching and for business life, or for entering the School of Arts and Sciences.
All students in the Preparatory course are required to take some trade and report every day for work in the Industrial School. Col- lege students may also take trades. At present several trades are being taught-Carpentry, Printing, Bricklaying, Plastering, Shoe- making, Blacksmithing and Broommaking. One fourth of the time in recitation hours is devoted to industrial training.
The Collegiate Department consists of four years, the Theolo- gical three. The course of study prescribed in the Theological De- partment is liberal and practical. Besides the ordinary English subjects of the Theological Seminary, students who have taken a College course, or its equivalent, pursue exegetical study of the Greek and Hebrew Scriptures in the Junior and Middle years. When the previous training of students has been partial and his years are mature a shorter and purely English course has been provided.
The school year begins the third Wednesday in September, and closes the first Wednesday of June.
For information or catalogue, write President H. L. McCrorey.
