The City of Beautiful Trees
Wilson is known as "The City of Beautiful Trees," and though there are many residential streets in the city with a variety of lovely trees, Nash Street is considered the most beautiful, with Park Avenue deserving special recogni- tion. Over a period of years several geographic and pictorial magazines have written specialarticles and given particular reference to Nash Street and have designated it as one of the seven most beautiful residential streets in the world. To the students of nature and especially to those who admire beautiful trees, Nash Street is a real attraction, If offers an assortment of trees as follows: pecan, birch, magnolia, walnut, umbrella, liveoak, cypress, hickory, pine, dog- wood, and willow oak. On spacious lawns in front of beautiful homes, these trees are found growing amid numerous kinds of shrubbery and many colored flowers.

Retail and Wholesale Trade
Wilson is the retail shopping center for a large agricultural section. In 1962 retail sales in the county totaled $80,015,000. More than 350 retail es- tablishments are available to serve the needs of the public.
Wilson's Future
It is pointed out by many that Wilson has a bright future, due to its ideal location, transportation facilities, agricultural, and natural resources, all of which are important factors in attracting new industries. It would appear that Wilson is in position for industrial development, and many manufacturers are considering Wilson as a distributing center for their products, as eastern North Carolina can be so well served from this point. Many traveling men make Wilson their headquarters because of the convenience of serving their territory from here. As the "King of Tobacco," Wilson may some day be en- gaged in the manufacture of many tobacco products. The people of Wilson are thinking in terms of expansion and commercial development and are most opti- mistic as to their city's future.
