AUDITOR'S REPORT.

This is to certify that I have examined the accounts of the Selectmen and School Board, Town and School District Treasurers, and Road Agents. I find them to be in good shape, correctly cast and supported by vouchers for the sev- eral charges. The taxes, with the exception of $2.86, have all

been collected and turned over to the Town Treasurer, in whose hands there remains a balance of $2,650.03. There was in the hands of the School District Treasurer at the end of the school year, which is now September 1, $87.63. There is due from the county, $36.73. No outstanding bills.

NOTICE.

You will note that the report of Schools is only a partial re- port, and that the School Treasurer's report shows only $1,000 drawn from the Town Treasurer, while the Town Treasurer's report shows $3,000 paid to the Treasurer of the School District.

This partial report and difference in money is caused by a change in School Laws which closes the school year August 31 instead of February 15th and the differences will show up in next year's complete annual report.

It has been the custom of the Department of Public In- struction in previous years to notify school boards and superintendents on or about February 1 of the amount of money required by law for schools, and the amount to raise entitling districts to state aid.

34

There is a bill at the present time before the Committee on Education in the House of Representatives which reorgan- izes the whole system of raising school money and apportion- ment of state aid. The Department of Public Instruction therefore is unable to tell at the present time the amount Fremont will be obliged to raise to obtain state aid and requests us to delay the annual school meeting as late as possible.

The annual school meeting will be held at Fremont Town hall Saturday, April 19, 1919, at 2 o'clock P. M.
