TRUST FUNDS.

Herewith is a statement of trust funds now in our posses- sion and the disposition which has been made of the same.

THE COL. THOMAS NESMITH FUND.

One thousand dollars was given to the town and six per cent. interest to be paid annually for the purchase of books for the Nesmith Library. It is invested in the Town of Windham. This fund was given in May, 1871.

GEORGE WILSON FUND.

One thousand dollars was given to the town, and the in- come to be expended in beautifying and fertilizing the cem- etery on the hill. It is deposited in the Mechanics Bank, Nashua. This fund was given Jan. 21st, 1893. In about three months after the deposit was made the bank was put into the hands of a receiver. The bank has paid two divi- dends of fifteen per cent. each, the balance still remaining in the bank, with prospect of a small dividend in the future. Mr. Wilson kindly supplements his gift by sending his check of five hundred dollars, to make good to the town the possi- ble loss on the deposit. It is invested in the Town of Wind- ham. This check was received in May, 1896.

DORA HASELTINE FUND.

Five hundred dollars was given to the town, and six per. cent. interest to be paid annually in the care of the cemetery on the plain. It is invested in the Town of Windham. This fund was given in May, 1896.

14

ARMSTRONG MEMORIAL FUND.

One thousand dollars was given to the town by George W. Armstrong. The income is to be used in and about the "Armstrong Memorial Building."

This fund was invested soon after received in the capital stock of the Pullman Car Compay. Quarterly dividends of ten dollars each have since been received. A report of the use of these dividends will be found in the report of the treasurer of the Library Trustees.

The remainder of the Wilson Fund, $700, is still in the Mechanic Savings Bank, Nashua ; no indication of settlement at present.

The cemeteries have been in charge of D. J. Warren during the · past year, and have received the usual care; bushes and grass cut, 1000 lbs. of fertilizer sown. No extra work of improvement has been done, as was intended at the cemetery on the Plain.

It is the purpose of the committee to relay the wall, or a part of it, next to the highway the coming year.

None of the income of the Dora Haseltine Fund has been drawn as such. In making the improvements at the cemetery on the Hill, re- laying wall, corner posts for Wilson lot, labor, etc., there was drawn

$24 00 th

from the treasury $20.03 more than was due the Wilson Fund, which stands to the credit of the Dora Haseltine Fund.

It is hoped that the town will adopt some rule or vote by which those wishing to leave or give funds for the care of cemetery lots may be encouraged to do so, though gifts or donations to the general fund, the income of which is for the care of all the cemeteries, will be gratefully acknowledged and used for that purpose.

W. D. COCHRAN, HORACE BERRY, Committee.
