Number of weeks of school, 30.

There are three reasons for the shortage in the number of weeks of school in the year just closed.

First :- The reopening of the Town Hall School, thus making five schools instead of four.

Second :- The decision of the Board to pay a uniform salary of ten dollars per week, thus making it possible to hire and keep good teachers.

Third :- The fact that State Aid was not received by the town for school purposes this year, accounted for by the fact that one condition toward securing the same was not complied with, viz. the amount appropriated for schools was not the required per cent. of the new and higher valuation of this town.

Respectfully submitted,

EDWIN B. EDGERLY, School Board.
