STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
To the inhabitants of the Town of Chesterfield in the County of Cheshire in said State, qualified to vote in Town affairs.
You are hereby notified to meet at the Town Hall, in said Town on Tuesday, the thirteenth day of March next, at nine of the clock in the forenoon, to act upon the following subjects.
1. To choose a Town Clerk for the ensuing year.
2. To elect one Selectman for three years.
3. To choose all necessary Town Officers for the en- suing year. ,
4. To raise such sums of money as may be necessary to defray Town charges for the ensuing year and make appro- priation of the same.
5. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate, to be applied upon the Town over-draft or debt.
6. To see how much money the Town will vote to raise and appropriate for the repairing of highways and bridges.
7. To see if the Town will vote to accept State Aid for highways and appropriate sufficient money for same.

8. To see if the Town will vote to accept the provisions of Chap 117, Laws of 1917, on a section of the Cheshire Road so- called, and appropriate, or set aside from the amount raised for highway work. the sum of $930.00 for this purpose.
9. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise for State highway maintenance.
10. To see what sum of money the Town will raise for the support of the poor.
11. To see what sum of money the Town will raise for the support of the Town Library in addition to what is required by law.
12. To determine the method of collecting taxes for the ensuing year.
13. To see what sum of money the Town will vote to raise for street lighting and establish one more light on the curve, near William D. Pierce's gravel bank for the ensuing year.
14. To see if the Town will vote to raise $400.00 to fight the pine blister.
15. To see if the Town will vote to observe Old Home Day and raise money and appoint a committee for same.
16. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Select- men to police Spofford Lake and the surrounding territory during the months of June, July and August in the summer of 1923 and appropriate $600.00 for same.
17. To see if the Town will vote to straighten the road opposite the entrance of Camp Namaschaug, and raise money for same.

18. To see if the Town will vote to widen the road oppo- site the farm house of Norman G. Colburn and raise money for same.
19. To see if the Town will vote to discontinue a certain highway, in the eastern part of Chesterfield, N. H .. known as the Mulligan road. Beginning at the fork of the Keene-Brattle- boro highway near the Pine Grove Golf links and running past the former Mulligan property in a southerly direction, to the cross road leading from the Keene-Brattleboro road past the residence of Wallace K. Ware. Also a short piece of road starting at the fork of the Keene-Brattleboro road and the above named cross road, in an easterly direction to the Mulli- gan road. Said piece of road being a fork of the above named road.
20. To see if the Town will vote to buy a new heater for the Town Hall and raise money for same.
21. To see if the Town will vote to discontinue a certain highway in the western part of Chesterfield, beginning at a point on the Keene-Brattleboro highway and running in a westerly direction, past the barn of Cless G. Davis, to the resi- dence of the Ashbel Stoddard Estate.
22. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate a sum of money in addition to what has been subscribed, for the purpose of purchasing and erecting a soldiers' memorial.
23. To see if the Town will vote to accept the sum of $100.00 in trust, to be known as the Richard T. Cobb Trust Fund, the income to be used for the care and improvement of the Richard T. Cobb burial lot in the Spofford Cemetery.
24. To see if the Town will vote to accept the sum of $100.00 in trust, to be known as the Ellen M. Ball Trust Fund,

the income to be used for the care and improvement of the Ellen M. Ball burial lot in the Spofford Cemetery.
25. To see if the Town will vote to accept the sum of $100.00 in trust, to be known as the Elsie M. Allbee-Fassett Trust Fund, the income to be used for the care and improve- ment of the Elsie M. Allbee-Fassett burial lot in the Spofford Cemetery.
26. To see if the Town will vote to accept the sum of $100.00 in trust, to be known as the Brown and Willard Gline Trust Fund, the income to be used for the care and improve- ment of the Brown and Willard Gline burial lot in the Spofford Cemetery.
27. To see if the Town will vote to accept the sum of $100.00 in trust, to be known as the Dunton-Farr Trust Fund. the income to be paid to the Chesterfield West Cemetery Asso- ciation, for the care and improvement of the Dennie W. Farr burial lot in the Chesterfield West Cemetery.
28. To see if the Town will vote to accept the sum of $100.00 in trust, to be known as the Laura Smith-Houghton Trust Fund, the income to be paid to the Chesterfield West Cemetery Association, for the care and improvement of the Ora Smith and Lyman P. Farr burial lot in the Chesterfield West Cemetery.
29. To see if the Town will vote to authorize and em- power the trustees of the Trust Funds of said Town, to accept trust funds in the name of the Town, whenever in their judg- ment such funds should be accepted.
30. To bring in your ballots upon the question as to whether the amendment proposed by the Convention to revise the Constitution shall be approved.

31. To transact any other business that may legally come before said meeting.

TOWN MEETING, 1922
Proceedings of the annual meeting of the voters of the Town of Chesterfield called at the Town Hall in said town on Tuesday the 14th day of March, 1922.
The meeting was called to order by the moderator, Louis D. Herrick, at 9 a. m., and the warrant read.
The articles in the warrant were disposed of as follows :
Article 1. For Town Clerk. Voted that the moderator be instructed to cast one ballot for Burton C. Thatcher for Town Clerk and he was declared elected by the moderator.
Article 2. For Selectman for 3 years. George A. Tuttle had 33 votes, George H. Joslin had 58 votes and George H. Joslin, having a majority of the votes cast, was declared elect- ed by the moderator.
Article 3. For Town Treasurer. Voted that the Clerk be instructed to cast one ballot for Harold E. Foster for Treasur- er and he was declared elected by the Moderator.
For Assessors. Voted that the Selectmen act as Assessors.
For Auditors. Clifford W. Tuttle, George L. Brown and Roderick W. Miller were elected Auditors by a voice vote and it was so declared by the Moderator.
For Road Agent (Center District). Walter G. Barrett had 42 votes. Charles H. Anderson had 71 votes and Charles H. Anderson, having a majority of the votes cast, was declared elected by the Moderator.
For Road Agent (Spofford District, John A. Joslin had 1

vote, David W. Slade had 1 vote, Arthur C. Hewitt had 92 votes and Arthur C. Hewitt, having a majority of the votes cast, was declared elected by the moderator.
For Road Agent (West District). Edward B. Ball had one vote, Moses H. Chickering had 81 votes and Moses H. Chicker- ing, having a majority of the votes cast, was declared elected by the Moderator.
For Constables. Roderick W. Miller, William D. Pierce and Harold E. Randall were elected Constables by a voice vote and it was so declared by the Moderator.
For Surveyors of Wood and Lumber, Harold E. Randall, Harold E. Foster and Frank M. Holman were elected as Sur- veyors of Wood and Lumber by a voice vote and it was so de- clared by the Moderator.
For Fence Viewers. Fred O. C. Farr, Charles H. Anderson and Harold E. Randall were elected as Fence Viewers by a voice vote and it was so declared by the Moderator.
For Trustee of Trust Funds. Burton C. Thatcher was elected a Trustee of Trust Funds for 3 years by a voice vote and it was so declared by the Moderator.
For Trustee of the Public Library. Charles D. York was elected as Trustee of Trust Funds for 3 years by a voice vote and it was so declared by the Moderator.
For Sextons. John A. Joslin, George L. Brown, Charles A. Tuttle, Charles E. Royce, Fred E. Atherton and Charles J. Paro were elected Sextons by a voice vote and so declared by the Moderator.
Article 4. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $2,500.00 to defray town charges for the ensuing year.
Article 5. Town Debt. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $3,000.00 to be applied on the payment of the Town Debt.

Article 6. Highways and bridges. Voted to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $5,000.00 for the repair of highways and bridges for the ensuing year.
Article 7. State Aid for highways. Voted to accept State Aid for highways for the ensuing year and to raise and appro- priate a sum of money sufficient to procure the same. Work to begin by May 15 and finish by July 1.
Article 8. Patrol of unimproved highways. Voted to ac- cept the provision of Chapter 117, Laws of 1917 on sections of the Cheshire Highway, so-called, and to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,200.00 for that purpose.
Article 9. State Aid maintenance. Voted to raise and ap- propriate a sum of money sufficient to procure State Aid for the maintenance of State Aid highways.
- Article 10. New highways. Voted that the Selectmen be instructed to borrow a sum of money not to exceed $10,000.00 and issue and sell bonds for that amount to be used for the building, repairing and grading of the New Highway laid out by the Selectmen January 5, 1922.
Article 11. Town poor. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $100.00 for the support of the town poor for the ensuing year.
Article 12. Town library. Voted to raise and appropriate a sum of money in addition to what is required to be raised by law to make the whole amount $150.00 for the support of the 'Town Library.
Article 13. Collection of taxes. Voted that taxes be col- lected in the same manner as in 1921.
Article 14. Street lighting. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $1,000.00 for street lighting for the ensuing year.

Article 15. Pine Blister. Voted to raise and appropriate the sum of $400.00 to fight the pine blister.
Article 16. Old Home Day. Voted to observe Old Home Day on the Common with the same committee as last year and to raise and appropriate the sum of $100.00 for the same.
Article 17. Repairs on highway. Voted to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $75.00 to repair the highway leading to Fred C. Humphrey's residence.
Article 18. Repairs on hearse house. Voted to instruct the Selectmen to make necessary repairs on the hearse house. (No appropriation.)
Article 19. Repairs on highways. Voted to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $75.00 to widen the highway near the Spofford Garage.
Article 20. Repairs on town hall. Voted to raise and ap- propriate the sum of $150.00 to repair and repaint the interior of the Town Hall.
Article 21. Voted to indefinitely postpone Article 21.
Article 22. Kate Cressy Trust Fund. Voted that the town accept the sum of $25.00 in trust, to be known as the Kate Cressy Trust Fund, the income from said fund to be used for the care and improvement of the Cressy burial lot in the New Boston Cemetery.
Article 23. George L. Hamilton Trust Fund. Voted that the town accept the sum of $100.00 in trust to be known as the George L. Hamilton Trust Fund, the income from said fund to be used for the care and improvement of the George L. Ham- ilton burial lot in the Spofford Cemetery.
Article 24. Horace S. Lincoln Trust Fund. Voted that the town accept the sum of $200.00 in trust to be known as the

Horace S. Lincoln Trust Fund the income from said fund to be used for the care and improvement of the Horace S. Lincoln burial lot in the Spofford Cemetery.
Article 25. John F. Butler Trust Fund. Voted that the town accept the sum of $200.00 in trust to be known as the John F. Butler Trust Fund, the income from said fund to be used for the care and improvement of the John F. Butler bur- ial lot in the Spofford Cemetery.
Article 26. No other business appearing. it was voted to adjourn at 2.10 p. m.

Said bonds were is- sued as follows : 10 bonds $1,000.00 each, dated July 1, 1922, first bond becomes due January 1, 1925 and one on the first of January of each year, until all are paid. Interest payable, at 5 per cent, on January 1st of each year. Fred E. Atherton of Spofford, N. H., purchased five bonds, amount $5,000.00. Laura E. Atherton of Spofford, N. H, purchased five bonds, amount $5,000.00.
