HUNTOON.
PHILIP HUNTOON, probably the first of his name in New England, came to America when a boy. So far as now known there is no au- thentic account of his ancestry. One account relates that his family, Hunton, left France after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes and sought refuge in the island of Jersey, whence Philip came to this country. Another account, probably less authen- tic, claims that he was of English descent. Soon after his ar- rival in America he was employed by a man named Hall in Exeter, N. H. He m. (1) BETSEY HALL, the dau. of his em- ployer in Exeter, where he res. several years. He moved to Kingston about 1703. He m. (2) HANNAII -, who d. in Kingston Dec. 22, 1741. The date of Philip's death is unknown. Samuel, b. Exeter; wounded by Indians July 22, 1710; d. next day. His father was cap- tured same day and was a prisoner in Canada nearly two years.

KENISTON.
