WILLIAM CLAY, b. about 1760, lived most of his life in Salisbury and Wilmot, but d. in Andover. He is supposed to have married ESTHER, dau. of Robert BARBER, the first white female child b. in Salisbury.


WILLIAM, son of the above, was a shoemaker and lived in Newbury, Vt., Salisbury and Andover. Late in life he moved from Andover to Plymouth, where he died. He m. BETSEY, dau. of Ebenezer and Hannah (Sanborn) LONG.
