DIRECTION LABELS,

Of Parchment, Cloth and Paper Cloth, --- AND- TAGS OF EVERY . DESCRIPTION, MANUFACTURED BY VICTOR E. MAUGER,

No. 115 Chambers Street, New York. 4

The Subscriber, having perfected his Machinery for the manufacture of the above DIRECTION LABELS, would respectfully intimate to the Manufacturers, Merchants, Bankers, Express Companies, and Hotel Pro- prietors of the United States, that he is now prepared to execute orders for any quantity, at the shortest notice, and in the best possible manner.

Although, considering their recent introduction, the LABELS are generally known and appreciated, for the benefit of those who may not as yet have used them, from among their numerous advantages, the following may be submitted : -

1. Their Cheapness .- The price of them generally exceeding little, if any, the price paid for COMMON CARDS; indeed, in many instances, the latter costing more.

2. Their Strength and Durability .- The Material (at least the Cloth and Paper Cloth) is manu- factured for the EXPRESS PURPOSE. The Parchment Labels are made from Genuine British Skins only, well known to be the strongest material in existence for writing purposes. The eyelet being strongly inserted through two to four ply of the folded Parchment, Cloth, and Paper Cloth, the liability of their giving way at that point is reduced to a minimum. The Parchment and Cloth Labels are confidently recommended as being capable of withstanding almost any amount of bad weather and hard usage.

3. Their Convenience .- This is apparent : a dozen may be written out and securely attached to the same number of different packages, in half as many minutes. Besides the foregoing, Merchants well know, when sending away goods, the advantage of having their names and addresses attached to them, in case of mistake in forwarding or otherwise.

4. The PRINTED Direction Labels are obviously the BEST, MOST STRIKING, and CHEAPEST ADVERTISEMENT in use.

17 Samples and Prices of any size or kind sent on application.

At Trenton the road connects with the Camden and Amboy and the Philadelphia and Trenton Railroads for New York and Philadelphia.

At Phillipsburg, opposite Easton, Pa., connection is made with the Central Railroad of New Jersey and the Lehigh Valley Railroad, the latter communicating directly with Mauch Chunk and other points in the Lehigh coal region.

From Belvidere the road is about being extended for a distance of three miles, to con- nect with the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad. Passengers are now carried over this part of the route by omnibusses. This connection gives the shortest route between Philadelphia and the Delaware Water Gap, Stroudsburg, Scranton, Wilkesbarre, Great Bend, &c., and the through arrangements of tickets, checks, &c, are very complete.

There are two passenger trains each way on the Belvidere Delaware Railroad daily, excepting Sundays, leaving Belvidere and Philadelphia respectively, early in the morning and about the middle of the afternoon, the times of starting varying slightly with the season. The time of running between Belvidere and Philadelphia is about 43 hours, and for Easton about three-quarters of an hour less. Trains on the Flemington branch con- nect with all these trains.

Only the morning train up and the afternoon train down, connect with the trains on the Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad.

The traveller by this route is constantly delighted with the pleasing views that meet his eye ut every turn, the Inudsenpo boing diversified with river and monatnin scenery of the most varied and romantic character; while those travolling either for business or roeren- tion, oneupe tho annoyance of dust so insufferable on most roads, but horo avoided by the peculiar construction of the road-bod.

SUCCESS COMPLETE!

JUST ISSUED, THE FOURTH EDITION OF Brobe's New Method for the Pimo.

OP. 1100.

BULLETIN OF TESTIMONIALS In favor of this unique work, which has already attained an unprecedented popularity.

FROM "THE MUSICAL REVIEW," NEW YORK.

"We must confess that we are naturally not very favorably inclined to new methods for the piano. We have had so many instructions during the last twenty years that we really think mankind ought, at least, to know how to play the piano-forte. However, Mr. Grobe's book has somewhat altered our mind. It offers really something new, containing some truth we have not met with until now in any other method. It adheres for once to the principle ' THINGS BEFORE SIGNS.' Ilo justly says, 'The reality (playing) should come first, and the things which belong to notation should follow.' This is excellent. This is just. This is true and natural. The whole system is based upon this principle-always with special regard to the primary instruction in the art of playing the piano. It is for this reason that such matters as belong to a more advanced period in the player's art are ex- cluded, and will follow in another book. The music in the book practically illustrates the principle of the author. The whole is to the point, and will be found extremely useful." FROM "THE MUSICAL WORLD," NEW YORK.

"First, we find a very sensible preface, in the course of which a list is given of the most dis- tinguished of his predecessors in the book-making and piano-teaching profession-the date of their birth and death being not forgotton. Mr. Grobe is doubtless better posted in the matter of musical biography than any other musical man. We find, next, some excellent advice to teachers, which we should like to transcribe to our columns, had we space. Mr. Grobe's admirable book is, on the whole, heartily to be recommended to the musical public."

FROM " FITZGERALD'S CITY ITEM," PHILADELPHIA,

"Grobe's New Method for the Piano-forte has met with unprecedented favor, over six thousand copies having been ordered in two weeks. This is a success as remarkable as it is well deserved, for the work is one of genuine and enduring merit. It would surprise greatly if his book did not sell-like what ?-- why, like Grobe's music, of course, and no- thing else !"

FROM " THE DAILY PICAYUNE," NEW ORLEANS.

" Mr. Grobe stands very high as a professor and teacher, and composer for the piano. The book he now gives to the public bears upon its face, to every experienced and practised eye, conviction that there is a valuable addition to the rudimentary musical lore of the country and the world. A better primary instructor in the'art, and especially in the science of piano playing, has never before been published."

FROM " THE DAILY ADVERTISER, " DETROIT.

"Lee & Walker, Philadelphia, have just published a new work of instruction, prepared by the eminently musical writer, Charles Grobe, whose excellence in this department has a world-wide fame. We are assured that the system of elementary teaching introduced by it is simple, clear, progressive, and judicious ; and, while it is extremely practical, it is also extremely attractive. The work contains ten engraved figures, illustrating the differ- ent positions of the hand and fingers, and its typographical appearance is very inviting."

FROM " THE PUBLIC LEDGER, " PHILADELPHIA.

" Lee & Walker have published Professor Charles Grobe's New Method for the Piano, which is one of the best elementary works upon the subject extant. Mr. Grobe is a tho- rough master of his subject, and he leads the pupils pleasantly through the task, by making it clear, simple, progressive, and practical."

FROM " THE COMMERCIAL ADVERTISER," BUFFALO, N. Y.

"Mr. Grobe is already well known as the composer of probably more musio than any other single composer now living, his present work being mimbered 1100. We have not had time to examine the merits of Mr. G.'s new method, but his great success, both as com- poser and Professor of the Piano-forte, warrants the belief that his last work may be regarded as a valuable addition to the list of instruction books."

LEE & WALKER, Publishers, 722 Chestnut Stroot, Philadelphia, Pa.
