Fallon is the county seat of Churchill county, 60 miles east of Reno. on a branch line of the Southern Pacific from Hazen. It is the trading center of the great Truckee-Carson Irrigation Propect and the head- quarters for the government reclamation service in charge of the enter- prise, that is watering 200,000 acres of land. Aside from being the center of this most extensive and important agricultural area in the state, there are tributary to Fallon a half dozen or more active mining camps. Its population is about 2000, with excellent schools, churches, substantial blocks, attractive homes and all modern conveniences in the way of public utilities. The only beet sugar factory in Nevada is lo- cated there.
