The Saloon or Gallery of Paintings on the second floor, is con- tructed with a sky-light, by which the Pictures are seen to the greatest advantage: they consist of Portraits, Landscapes, Fruit Pisces, &c. executed by many eminent Artists.


The Lecture Room, adjoining the Gallery, is arranged to ac- commodate visitors of the Museum at the Philosophical and Mlis- cellaneous Experiments, which now form a part of the Evening's amusement, in the following departments : Pneumatics, (Air Pump) Electricity, Chemistry, and a combination of various Gases, called Philosophical Fireworks, the Phantasmagoria, Magic Lantern, Grand Illuminated Orrery, with Astronomical demonstrations. The Philosophical Apparatus is of the first class, of superior work- manship, and very extensive. They commence in the winter sea- son at eight, and in the summer at nine o'clock, every evening.
