"BOYNTON'S SAW73 Were effectually tested before the judges at the Philadelphia Fair, July 6th and ith. An ash log, Il inches in diameter, was sawed off, with a 4} foot light- ning cross-cut, by two men, in precisely 6 seconds, as timed by the chairman of the Centen- nial Judges of Class Fileen. The speed is unprecedented, and would cut a cord of wood in 4 minutes. The representatives of Russia, Austria, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium. Sweden, England, and several other countries, were present, and expressed their high appreciation." Received Medal and Highest Award of Centennial World's Fair, 1876. $1,000 challenge was prominently displayed for six months, and the numerous saw manu- facturers of the world dared not accept it, or test in a competition so hopeless.

EXECUTED WITH A PEN.
192 and 194 FULTON STREET,
BETWEEN ORANGE AND PINEAPPLE STS.,
BROOKLYN.
Being centrally located below the City Hall, all the principal lines of cars pass the door.
Our Rooms are large, with high ceilings, well ventilated, newly refurnished with a sep- arate desk and comfortable chair for each student, and in no place is comfort of the pupil more studied, and his moral training better attended to.
TO THE PUBLIC.
Our aim is to raise the institution to an equal footing with any other in the land. There is no reason why Brooklyn should not possess an institution of learning where all branches, preparatory to a Mercantile or Professional life, may be obtained, as well as elsewhere. There is no reason why our young men should be sent abroad at great expense, when by a little effort, all that is desired may be obtained at home.
Let our intelligent citizens lend us their aid by patronage and encouragement, and we will guarantee as thorough an education as can be obtained in any other place. We cordially invite parents and guardians to call and visit the institution for themselves. You can see our methods of teaching, and then you will be able to judge for your- welves. We do not wish to make any vain boasts, but are determined to give the pub- lie a chance to favorably say of us, "By their fruits ye shall know them."
THE DESIGN OF THIS INSTITUTION
Is to impart to all our students a thorough and practical business education, in the abortest time. at the least possible expense (day or evening).
BRANCHES TAUGHT.
Bookkeeping, Penmanship, Correspondence, Commercial Law, Business and Common School Arithmetic, Spelling, Grammar, Rhetoric, Algebra, Geometry, Naviga- tion, Chemistry, Phonography, Telegraphy, Latin, Greek, Hebrew, German, French, and Spanish, or any other branch required to prepare for business.
A WORD TO PARENTS.
Those who intend to give their children a good education, to prepare them for either a Business or Professional life should embrace, at once, the opportunity now offered. The benefits to be derived from this Institution are many and great. The students being at home will thus be under the immediate care of parents as well as of teachers. Large expense is saved, which always accompanies educational training at boarding schools. Those intending to take a complete course should enter at once, so that correct method and habit in such branches as Spelling, Penmanship, etc., may be acquired from the commencement.
ANNOUNCEMENT.
The Principal of this Institution, W. A. KISSICK, A. M., has been well known for the past 17 years, in the cities of New York and Brooklyn, as a successful teacher, and will be happy to refer strangers, by permission, to gentlemen of the highest literary and social standing ; also to former and present pupils, many of whom he has been instru- mental in placing in positions of honor and emolument.
We have been 9 years in the present building.
LADIES' DEPARTMENTS.

COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT. THE BOOKKEEPING
Is thoroughly taught by a practical Bookkeeper. The terms Dr. and Cr. are fully explained ; the nature of entries defined, and journalizing elucidated ; Ledger Titles ; closing and opening books, and balance sheets fully taught. As the student proceeds, every operation shall be thoroughly analyzed, until he is made familiar with all the principles of the science, and enabled to grasp the subject as a connected whole.
COMMERCIAL LAW,
Relating to Contracts, Agency, Collections, Negotiable Paper, etc., is a part of the reg- ular Commercial Course.
TERMS-Three months, $10 to $15. One year, $35.
THE ENGLISH COURSE,
Consisting of Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar, Composition, Arithmetic, and Letter-Writing. Merchants and business men will agree with us, when we say that be- sides Penmanship, Arithmetic, Business forms and Bookkeeping-important as these unquestionably are-there are other things, without a knowledge of which, a good busi- ness education cannot be considered as complete. Among these, we would particularly mention correct spelling, punctuation, and a sufficient acquaintance with the rules of Grammar and! Composition as will enable the student to compose either a good letter, business card, or advertisement. For the acquisition of these accomplishments, the ambitious student will find, in our Institution, the most ample facilities.
The full English Course, three months, $10 to $15. One year, $45.
EVENING SESSION.
For the benefit of all those who may be unable to attend during the day, we hold an evening session from 7 till 9 P. M. None too backward or too old to learn, as each student will be instructed separately or privately.
ELOCUTION.
Having secured the services of an Elocutionist of long experience, we are prepared to give instructions in this useful art. Particular attention is given to the training of the voice ; correct pronunciation, articulation, emphasis, accent, etc., are carefully taught. Those having in view the Ministerial or Legal Profession should embrace, without delay, the rare opportunity now offered.
LETTER - WRITING.
This accomplishment has been so much neglected in our Seminaries, that it is rare to find a pupil who is capable of composing even a tolerable letter.
By our system the student is taught, by the rules of grammar and composition, with constant daily practice, how to express his thoughts clearly and concisely. "To the diligent scholar we assure the ability to compose a letter that may be the means o open- ing his way to prosperity and which will reflect credit on himself and his teache s.

The Thirteenth Year of this Institution Commences on Monday, Sept. 11th, 1882, at 9 o'clock.
There are no vacancies in the school for those who find it hard to tell the truth ; or boys who use tobacco; nor for those who have any habit of speech or behavior at variance with purity of character.
There is but one regular session, beginning at 9 o'clock and closing at I o'clock. Besides this there is provided an afternoon Delinquent and Study Session. One purpose of this session is to afford pupils whatever assistance they may require to prepare their next day's lessons.
The general aim of the curriculum* in the Primary, Intermediate, and Aca- lemic Departments, is to give the scholar a practical education, much stress being laid upon the ability to write a good letter, properly arranged, correctly expressed and spelled, legibly written, clear and to the point.
