RATES OF WHARFAGE.
Ti shall be lawful for the owners of wharves in the city of New York, Dask and receive to their own use, the following rates of wharfage, for all chips and vessels using their wharves respectively, viz.
For every vessel under 50 tons, at the rate of 50 cents per day.

Whenever any ship or other vessel, shall be bronght to any dock or wharf, to repair or careen, and it is found necessary to sling or crect any stage or stages on the sides of said vessel, for the more convenient caulking or repairing the same, or that any boats, scows, or floating stages, are brought along side said vessel, for the purpose of caulking, repairing, or careening, as aforesaid, it shall and may be lawfol for the owner or owners of the said wharf, to ask, demand, take, and receive, thirty three and one . that want to discharge or receive cargoes ; whereof the harbour masters are sole judges whether they are loading or unloading.
All vessels laying at the end of a wharf, and in part across a slip, must haul to acc, mmodate those going in or out, or quit the birth.
It is recommended that all vessels have one cable bent, that in case cf. fire they may be removed into the stream.
Persons in want of a Harbour Master for the North River, will apply for Charles W' .. Wooster, at Robert Ainsley's, Albany- basin. And those for the East River, from the cast side of Beekman slip to Corlaer's Hock, will apply at the store of David Lydix, at the corner of Dover. and: South sirets.

A LAW
To regulate Carts and Cartmen in the city of New-York, passed December 28, 1807.
SEC, I. BE it ordoined by the Mayor, Aldermen, un'l Commonalty of the vity of New York, in Common Council convened, That no person shall drive ony sled, cart, truck, or other carriage, for the transportation of any goods, wares, merchandizes, fire wood, or other things whatsoever, within the said city, for Lite or wages, unless he shall be appointed or licensed as a cart- man by the Mayor, for the time being, under the penalty of five dollars for rach offence : and that no person who hath beco licensed as a cartman and shall have been suspended or displaced by the Mayor, shall drive any rart, slod, or truck, for hire or wages aforesaid, under the penalty of ten ricilars for each offence.
