" BILLIARDS WITHOUT A MASTER."
DR. S. B. SMITH'S SENSATIONAL DIRECT & TO-AND-FRO CURRENT Electro-Magnetic Machines.
These are the only Electro-Magnetic Machines which have a'strong direct current as well as a to-and-fro current. A direct current without intensity, in a medical point of view, is of no value at all.
There is now being offered to the public a Magnetic Machine called the "Six Current " Ma- chine, claiming also to have a direct current of strong intensity, but when tested by a Galvanome- ter, this intensified direct current is found to be nothing more than a to-and-fro current. The direct current deflects the Galvanometer 90 degrees, but this spurious one only 5 degrees. PURCHASE NONE WITHOUT THIS TEST. Little is known yet, even among Physi- cians, of the superior excellence of the direct current. It is the only current that has a polar and chemical action. Its negative polar action is powerfully TONIC and CONTRACTIVE, while its positive polar action is diametrically the reverse. It draws all metalic poisons from the human system at its negative pole; and, when a tonic or contractive action is required, as in hemorrhages and other relaxed conditions of the body, closes the capillaries at once, stops the effusion of blood, and gives vigor to the system.
The apparatus is in a neat, portable black walnut case highly polished. The zines never require cleaning ; runs at an expense of one cent a week, of strong power.
PRICE, SINGLE CUP, $18, DOUBLE CUP, $20.

Prince's Improved Protean FOUNTAIN PEN.
Once Filling Writes Ten Hours ! TESTIMONIAL.
NEW YORK, Nov. 26, 1864 .- I take great pleasure in commending Prince's Protean Fountain Pen, after several years use of it, at home and abroad. I have come to regard it as indispensible. A pen that carries an inkstand in its bosom ; an inkstand that cannot up- set, and has no outlet except through a pen, constitute a convenience that no one having once thoroughly proved would willingly live without.
