Annals of Albany. By JOEL MUNSELL. 7 vols. 12mo, 7.00
Its contributions to history and antiquities contain much that is curious and interesting, obtained at no little cost of time and labor. No one has done more to recall the ancient features of the city. Cu- rious in these matters, the author eulls and preserves them in their antique forms, and thus rescues them from the oblivion into which the structures, the ways, the customs, and even the names of the olden times would otherwise be liable to pass. The modern names and places, by the side of the ancient annals and things, combine the past and the present in useful and interesting juxtaposition. The curious in these researches will find this book a treasure, and well worth the price. It has fine views of Albany, as it is, and illustra- tive wood euts and maps ; but its chief interest consists in its portrai- ture of Albany as it was in the olden time .- Argus.
