Introductory

The rapid development of the interurban electric railway service in the past few years has brought the people of Toledo and surrounding cities and towns so closely together socially that the value of the Toledo Blue Book is more apparent than ever before. For all social purposes Toledo. now extends in every direction from the center of the city to a radius of fifty miles, and in developing the functions of this work of reference we have taken this important fact into consideration. And it will serve a useful purpose for the merchant, as well as the original purposes that gave it birth.

In presenting the ninth edition of the Toledo Blue Book we wish to thank all who have contributed to its completeness, to assure the public that we have sought the advertisements of only such of our merchants as we can conscientiously recommend for fair dealing, and to again invite all who have an interest in this work to make such suggestions as they think will expand its usefulness.

The book this year covers more ground than previous editions, and we desire to keep pace with the wonderful march of devel- opment of Toledo and the prosperous surrounding territory. In brief, it is our aim to keep up with the procession and be thoroughly up-to-date.
