NELL BLANCHE TURNER
Nell Turner was born June 5, 1895 in Madison County, Ohio being one of twelve children born to Henry and May Johnson. After graduating from the London, Ohio High School she attended Normal School and began a teaching career which continued with interruptions, until shortly before her death. At various times she attended Otterbein College, Lane Theological Seminary and Miami University. She earned the B.S. and M.A. degrees at Miami and was working on her Ph.D. at the time of her death, having more than 150 hours of graduate credit.
Her teaching career included service in Madison, Mahoning, Wood, But- ler and Warren Counties, also in Columbus, Cincinnati, Miamisburg and Trot- wood schools. She was a member of the Faculty at Wilmington College and at the University of Dayton, retiring in 1968.
On June 23, 1921 she married the Rev. Eugene Ralph Turner a minister of the (Ohio) Miami Conference. She served with her husband in his ministry at College Hill (Cincinnati) ; High Street (now Dayton Hope) ; Cheviot (Cin- cinnati) ; Middletown First (now Faith) ; and Beavertown (Kettering Church of the Cross). After Dr. Turner's retirement she shared in his ministry to senior citizens at Dayton First Church until Dr. Turner's death in 1961.
In addition Mrs. Turner served the conference for 19 years as a member of its Board of Christian Education and for five years as teacher in summer camps. Her interest in children was reflected in her leadership in helping to establish the camping program of the conference. She was for 12 years the Director of Children's Work for the Butler County Council of Religious Education.
Mrs. Turner suffered a heart attack and died in her sleep on August 8, 1969. Funeral services were conducted on August 11 in the Middletown Faith Church by the Rev. Clifford Stearns and Dr. Emerson D. Bragg. Burial was in Woodside Cemetery, Middletown, Ohio.

MINNIE FLIEHMAN
Minnie Fliehman, the daughter of Henry Fliehman and his wife, Julie Schlemmer Fliehman, was born on February 14, 1885 at Harrison, Ohio. She departed this life on May 22, 1970 at her home in Harrison, Ohio. She was buried in the New Haven Cemetery with the Reverend Robert Sandman of the staff of the United Church of Christ in Dayton, and her pastor, the Reverend Dana R. Heaton officiating. She was the oldest of six children with one sister being the wife of the Reverend William Fox, now of Springboro, Ohio.
She attended the Edgewood School, Crosby Township, Hamilton County. She later attended Bonebrake Seminary, now United Theological Seminary, being ordained an elder in the United Brethren Church, Ohio Miami Conference in 1921. She worked two years in Canton, Ohio as a church helper, then went to Hartford Seminary in Hartford, Connecticut for one year for further study in Religious Education. She started the Week Day Religion Classes in the Eldorado-West Manchester Public Schools, later being forced to move to the churches. She then went to Cincinnati to work in the same area of education. Later she returned to Hartford Seminary to receive a degree in Religious Education. Upon completion of this she went to work in Newport, Kentucky, then to the Cincinnati system as a part time worker in several schools until retirement in 1954 at the age of 69. She lived at home with a sister Ethel while working in Cincinnati, and continued living with her until her death.
Minnie was well liked by her pupils who gave her many gifts and wrote to her frequently after her retirement. She had a way of giving to the children something of herself as she walked with God. I knew her personally when she taught in the Newport, Kentucky system and the children of our parish who attended would proclaim that Miss Minnie was always right and when I checked I found that she was. Many children are workers in our churches today because of her influence on their lives.
