Madden, Progressive, who re- ceived 189,693 votes, and Frank Taggart, Republican, who received 328,547 votes. . Mr. Nichols, as the Democratic candidate, received 345,218 votes, and a plurality of 16,671 votes over Mr. Taggart. A complete biographical sketch of Chief Justice Nichols can be found in volume one of this work, when he was Lieutenant Governor of Ohio.
