STREET AND AVENUE GUIDE.

EXPLANATION.

On referring to this Directory, it will be noticed that the names of streets, avenues, etc., follow each other in strictly alphabetical order, without regard to location. To all the more im- portant streets and avenues are subjoined the names and numbers of intersecting streets and avenues in the order in which they occur. The letters and figures following the street names are given to ascertain the location of streets and avenues on the MAP. Take for example, ST. CLAIR, D-10: On the sides of the Map are the letters A to O; at top and bottom, figures 1 to 18; St. Clair will be found in the angle formed by drawing a line D to D, 10 to 10. Now if you wish to find, say No. 1263 St. Clair, by reference to the Guide you will find that St. Clair crosses Case av. at No. 1250 and Lyman at 1290; hence, the place you seek is between these two streets, and nearest to Case av. The dash indicates that the corner is vacant, is not numbered, or is occu- pied by a church or school-house.
