Each physician so appointed shall attend professionally to the sick poor of his respective district, and shall receive twenty-five cents for each necessary visit : Provided, That only such persons shall be paid for as sick paupers who are visited by order of the Directors, on the certificate of the proper Overseer of the Poor : And Provided further, That such certificate may be presented to the Board of Directors within two days after the first professional visit. And every physician appointed by this Board shall present his account for settlement on the last day of each quarter, and shall verify the same by his oath, stating that all the visits charged were necessary for the benefit of the patients therein named. Each apothecary so appointed shall furnish the medicine ordered by the physician for the poor in his respective dis- trict, and shall file the prescriptions to be delivered to the Board, on presenting his account on the last day of each quarter ; and no prescription shall be charged this Board unless the same is signed by the proper physician of the district, stating the name of the person relieved, and bear- ing the physician's mark, "Out-door Poor." And each apothecary shall verify his account by oath, that the medi- cines charged therein were actually delivered, and were of good quality, and that the prices are the same as charged to his usual customers, from which prices one-third shall be deducted.
Two Medical Districts shall constitute one Directorial Dis- trict, to be under the especial care of one of the Directors of the Infirmary, as follows :

There shall be appointed for each Directorial District one Undertaker, to furnish the necessary coffins and conveyance for the burial of the dead poor in such district, and to lay out and convey then to the grave yard, upon such terms as the Board of Directors and such undertaker may agree upon, yet in such a way, that the prices shall be uniform in all districts.

The following order was also adopted and made a rule for the government of the works, viz. :-
Resolved, That upon a return of a bill to the office for non-payment, and where there is no cistern on the premises, the ferule shall be immediately drawn, and the water not turned on again until all back rents are paid, and $3 addi- tional for drawing and replacing ferule ; and when there is a cistern on the premises, the water rent shall be paid up to the end of the term in which such ferule was drawn, and also the $3 additional above stated.
In all cases where water is turned off for abuse, the owner or occupant of such premises shall pay 50 cents for turning the water off and on.

Rules and Regulations.
For the Government of the Engine, Hose, Hook and Ladder, and other Companies attached to the Cincin- nati Fire Department.
ART. 1. All the companies of the Department shall be furnished with a copy of the Fire Ordinance and the Rules and Regulations, which shall be framed and placed in their respective houses; and it shall be the duty of the officers and members of the Department to conform to all the requisitions, and perform all the duties herein required.
ART. 2. The Chief Engineer shall have command of the Fire Department, and at all the fires, and direct the respec- tive Assistant Engineers in any and all matters belonging to the same ; he shall lay before the Board of Engineers, and the Board of Supervisors, respectively, all such business as may require their consideration ; he shall direct the

ART. 3. The Assistant Engineers shall examine the con- dition of the different companies in their districts, and see that the captains of each company have the apparatus entrusted to their care kept in good working order, and that the Ordinances and Regulations of the Fire Department are strictly attended to. They shall, in the absence of the Chief Engineer, take the command at all fires in their respective districts, and receive the report from the captain of each company of any repairs that may be necessary, and report the same forthwith to the Chief Engineer. In the absence of the Assistant Engineer of a district, the Assistant Engi- neer of the district succeeding shall have command of the companies of that district.
ART. 4. The captains of each company shall take com- mand at all fires in their districts in the absence of the Chief Engineer or his Assistants, and when there is more than one company in a district, the captains of each company shall cast lots who shall have the command in the absence of the Chief or Assistants. They shall see that the men composing the company under their command comply with the Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department, and shall cause all orders of the Chief or his Assistants to be strictly obeyed.
ART. 5. The captain of a company shall see that all the property in such company is duly taken care of; that the pipemen, drivers, and firemen attend to their respective duties ; he shall direct the members of the company at fires, call the roll, and report as often as directed, or as he may find necessary, to the Assistant Engineer of his district, or Secretary, respectively.
ART. 6. The lieutenant shall act as captain in his absence. ART. 7. The pipemen shall take due care of the property in use by their respective companies, and attend to the hose and pipes at fires ; they shall report to the captain as often as he may direct, or they may find it necessary; one of them shall be on duty at the engine-house at all times (to be relieved at such times and manner as the captain may direct); the third pipeman to assist at the work of the other pipemen, or as he may be directed by the captain ; he shall take the place of either pipemen or drivers, when either of them is absent from duty by some unavoidable cause ; he shall attend to alarms, and remain at the engine-house during the absence of the other men at fires.
ART. S. The drivers shall take due care of the horses of their respective companies, while at the engine-house, going to a fire, while there, and returning to the house ; they shall report to, and otherwise execute the directions of the captain ; one of them shall be on duty at the engine- house at all times, except during fires, to be relieved as may hereafter be directed, and in practicing horses shall not go more than four squares from their respective engine-houses, and shall, in all cases. observe the directions of the horse doctor in regard to feeding and medicine.
ART. 9. Alarms are not to be given at any engine-house,
unless received from a responsible person or persons, or from another fire-bell; the men on duty at the engine-house shall be held answerable for all false alarms given by them.
ART. 10. Racing to and from fires is not allowed under any circumstances, under the penalty of dismissal, and if apparatus of several companies proceed on the same street to or from the fire, they shall do so in single file.
ART. 11. The captain or commanding officer of each com- pany will remain by his company or apparatus, of which he has charge, to preserve order, and to direct their operations; and all members of the several companies, except when otherwise engaged on special duty, will remain at or about the apparatus to which they are attached.
ART. 12. When the Chief Engineer shall find the fire so far reduced that one or all the companies may cease work, he shall dismiss them through the respective Assistant Engineers.
ART. 13. No officer or member of the Department shall appear on duty without such badge as may be prescribed by the Board of Engineers, under penalty of twenty-five cents, unless they can furnish a reasonable excuse.
ART. 14. Any officer absent from a fire without a good and sufficient excuse (except in case of sickness), shall be subject to a fine of one dollar ; firemen for a like neglect, fifty cents.
ART. 15. Officers or other members of the Department, who have not attended at two-thirds (3) of the fires during the month, except in case of sickness, are subject to dismissal.
ART. 16. Members of fire companies, or other persons, are not permitted to frequent, meet, or loiter around the engine- houses, without special permission from their respective officers. Men on duty at the engine houses who may allow the same, to the contrary, shall be subject to dismissal.
ART. 17. All charges for misconduct against officers or men must be presented to the Board of Supervisors in writing, and for such charges he shall have five (5) days notice, during which time he shall stand suspended.
ART. 18. The Hook and Ladder Companies will take position, when practicable, within lines, and as near the fire as, under all circumstances may be found convenient.
ART. 19. No member will be received into any company for less time than one month, and no person shall be entitled to pay for a less time, and any member wishing to withdraw from any company, shall be required to give ten (10) days notice of such intention, and each enrolment of membership shall date from the first of every month.
ART. 20. Any company returning from a fire, finding that they have hose which does not belong to them, they shall immediately return the same to the company to which it belongs.
ART. 21. The captain of each company shall, in no instance, allow any person, except the captain, lieutenant, pipemen, or drivers, to ride on the apparatus, either in going to or from a fire.
