DIRECTORS' REGULATIONS FOR GRANTING OUT- DOOR RELIEF TO THE POOR.
1. Each Ward is one district for providing provisions for the poor, and for this purpose a grocer is to be contracted with in each ward to deliver, on the order of the Board, such provisions as may be required, the account to be pre- sented and settled on the last day of each quarter, to be sworn to by the grocer, that the articles named therein were all delivered, of good quality, and that the prices charged for the same, are the same as by him charged to his regular cash customers, and no more.

2. For Medical purposes the city is divided into six Medi- cal Districts. as follows, viz .:--
FIRST DISTRICT-Eleventh and Twelfth Wards. SECOND DISTRICT-Second. Fifth and Tenth Wards.
THIRD DISTRICT-First, Ninth and Thirteenth Wards.
FOURTH DISTRICT - Third, Fourth and Seventeenth Wards.
FIFTH DISTRICT-Seventh. Eighth and Sixteenth Wards. SIXTH DISTRICT-Sixth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Wards.
In each of these Medical Districts there are to be appoint- ed two or more physicians, one of whom to be a German ; also two or more Apothecaries.
Each physician so appointed shall attend professionally to the sick poor of his respective district, and shall receive twenty-five cents for each necessary visit : Provided. That only such persons shall be paid for as sick paupers who are visited by order of the Directors, on the certificate of the proper Overseer of the Poor : And Provided further. That such certificate may he presented to the Board of Directors within two days after the first professional visit. And every physician appointed by this Board shall present his account for settlement on the last day of each quarter. and shall verify the same by his oath, stating that all the visits charged were necessary for the benefit of the patients therein named. Each Apothecary so appointed shall fur- nish the medicine ordered by the physician for the poor in his respective district, and shall file the prescriptions to be deilvered to the Board, on presenting his account on the last day of each quarter ; and no prescription shall be charged this Board unless the same is signed by the proper physician of the district, stating the name of the person relieved, and bearing the physician's mark. "Out door Poor." And each apothecary shall verify his account by oath, that the medicines charged therein were actually delivered, and were of goud quality, and that the prices are the same as charged to his usual customers, from which prices one third shall be deducted.
Two Medical Districts shall constitute one Directorial Dis- trict, to be under the especial care of one of the directors of the Infirmary, as follows :
The First Directorial District, consisting of the First and Second Medical Districts, viz .: The Seventh, Fifth, Tenth, Eleventh and Twelfth Wards.
The Second Directorial District, consisting of the Third and Fourth Medical Districts, viz: The First, Third, Fourth, Ninth, Thirteenth and Seventeenth Wards.
The Third Directorial District, consisting of the Fifth and Sixth Medical Districts, viz . : The Second, Eighth, Sixteenth, Sixth, Fifteenth and Fourteenth Wards.

All Water Rent is Payable in Advance.
All persons making application for water, or to be trans- ferred, and all desiring to pay water rent in the office, will bring the numbers of their hydrants.
Hydrants are to be kept in good repair by the owner or occupant.
In all cases where persons desire a return of Rent, the Water Receipt must be returned to the Water Office.
The following abuses, viz .: Ist. Permitting the use of water for any other purpose than that named in the bill. 2d. Sprinkling the streets with hose. 3d. Permitting leaks. 4th. Permitting water to run nnnecessarily-will be followed by the stoppage of water from hydrants where they are per- mitted, and the infliction of penalties prescribed by law.
No person is permitted, without consent of the office, to turn any private or public stop-cock.
Upon return of a bill to the office for non-payment, and where there is no cistern on the premises, the ferule shall be immediately drawn, and the water not turned on again until all back rents are paid, and $3 additional for drawing and replacing ferule ; and where there is a cistern on the premises, the water rent shall be paid up to the end of the terms in which such ferule was drawn, and also the $3 additional, above stated.
In all cases where water is turned off for abuse, the owner or occupier of such premises shall pay 50c. for turning the water off and on.
WATER RATES.
One family occupying a house containing room 1 or 2, $4, 3 or 4, $5. 5 or 6, $6, 7 or 8, $7, 9 or 10, $8, 11 or 12, $9, 13 or 14, 610, 15 or 16, $11, 17 or 18, $12, 19 or 20, $ 13. Houses with more than 20 rooms, 50c. extra for each ad- ditional room.
Houses occupied by more than one family. $2 extra for each additional family.
Extra rates per annum for Boarding Houses-Rooms 7 to 12, $2, 13 to 20, $4, 21 to 30, 88, 31 to 40, $15.

Stores, offices and sleeping rooms, from $2 to $10 per annum. Smith shops, $2 for each forge; street house troughs, $5 per annum.
Coffee Ilouses from $5 to $20 per annum. Restaurants and fountains to be assessed.
Stables. livery and private, $2 per annum for each stall; each carriage, buggy and wagon $1 per annum; each work horse $1 per annum.
Brick work, 8 cents per 1000; stone, 2 cents per perch; Plastering, 2 cents per bushel of lime.
Steam Engines, Manufactories, Hotels, Distilleries, Brew- eries, Slaughter Houses, Tanneries, and all other large consumers, 1 3-10 cents per 100 gallons, to be estimated by the Superintendent or Surveyor, or by water meters, and $5 additional for every fifty hands employed.

Rules and Regulations.
ART. 1. All the Companies of the Department shall be furnished with a copy of the Fire Ordinance and the Rules and Regulations, which shall be framed and placed in their respective houses. It shall be the duty of the officers and members of the Department to conform to all the requisi- tions, and perform all the duties herein required.
ART. 2. The Chief Engineer shall have command of the Fire Department,and at all of the fires, and direct the respect- ive Assistant Engineers in any and all matters belonging to the same: he shall lay before the Board of Engineers, and the Board of Supervisors, respectively. all such business as may require their consideration; he shall direct the As- sistant Engineers at fires, how to dispose of the respective Companies of their District.
ART. 3. The Assistant Engineers shall examine the con- dition of the different Companies in their District, and see that che Captain of each Company have the apparatus en- trusted to their care kept in good working order, and that the Ordinances and Regulations of the Fire Department are strictly attended to. They shall, in the absence of the Chief Engineer, take the command at all fires in their respective Districts, and receive the report from the Captain of each Company, of any repairs that may be necessary, and report the same forthwith to the Chief Engineer. In the absence of the Ass. Eng. of a District, the Ass. Eng. of the District succeeding shall have the command ofthe Co's of that District.
ART. 4. The Captain of each Company shall take com- mand at all fires in their Districts, in the absence of the Chief Engineer or his Assistants, and when there is more than one Company in a District. the Captains of said Com- panies shall cast lots, who shall have the command, in the absence of the Chief or Assistants. They shall see that the men composing the Companies under their command, com- ply with the Rules and Regulations of the Fire Department, and shall cause all the orders of the Chief or his Assistants to be strictly obeyed.
ART. 5. The Captain of a Company shall see that all the property in such Company is duly cared for; that the Pipe- men, Drivers Firemen, Watchman and Engineer attend to their respective duties, and see that they stond their respect- ive watches; he shall direct the members of a Company at fires, call the roll, and report as often as directed. or as he may find necessary, to the Assistant Engineer of his Dis- trict, or Secretary, respectively.
ART. 6. Alarms are not to be given at any Engine House, unless received from a responsible person or persons, or from another fire bell; the men on duty at the Engine House shall be held answerable for all false alarms given by them.
ART. 7. Racing to or from fires is not allowed under any circumstances, under the penalty of dismissal; and if the apparatus of several Companies proceed on the same street to or from a fire. they shall do so in single file.
ART. 8. Any Driver, of Steam Engine or Iland Ap- paratus, Hlose Carriages or Hook and Ladder Compa- nies, driving or running over hose, unless it can not be avoided, shall he subject to dismissal from the Department.
ART. 9. The Captain of any Steam or Hand Company shall be at the pipes when at fires, and see that the line of hose are well guarded.
