Visitors are admitted on all working days ley, Edward Needles, Frederick Erringer, J. except Saturdays and rainy days. by permis- sion of an officer who must attend or appoint some other person to attend them.


New coins are not permitted to be exchan- ged, to accommodate visitors without per- mission of the chief coiner. Embezzlement of the coins or precious metals is punished with death


The door keeper attends from 5 A. M un- til 6 P. M. when he is relieved by the watch- man, who in turn is relieved by the door keep- er at 5 A. M. The acceptance of money from visitors is strictly prohibited. Smoking is for- bidden and workmen are discharged if guil- ty of being intoxicated at the Mint. The on- "ly holidays permitted at the mint are Christ- mas and the 4th of July. No spirituous li- quors are admitted and the workmen have $3 per month extra wages allowed them during the three summer months in place of drink money as formerly.
