GEORGE H. ROTHERMEL.
[W. M., 1888 to 1889.]
GEORGE H. ROTHERMEL was born in Philadelphia, November 7, 1837. He was educated in the public schools of that city, after- wards learning the trade of printing in the book department of the Pennsylvania Inquirer, now the Philadelphia Inquirer, going from there to the Harrisburg Telegraph, and then to the Philadelphia Evening Telegraph. In 1869 he moved to Lancaster, entering the employ of Wylie & Griest, now the Wickersham Printing Company, shortly afterward becoming the foreman of the book department of that establishment, which position he still occupies. He served in the Emergency Troops from Philadelphia, during the Antietam Campaign, in the Civil War, September, 1862.

JACOB P. SHIRK. [W. M., 1889 to 1890.]
JACOB PETERS SHIRK was born in Millersville, Pa., in 1860. He was educated in the State Normal School of that town. When about twenty years of age he removed to Lancaster. In his early life he was engaged with his father and brother in textile manu- facturing and in the wholesale cigar business; and later in the manufacturing and wholesaling of lumber in which business he is still actively engaged in this city.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, November 8, 1882. He was elected Junior Warden in December, 1886; Senior Warden in December, 1887, and in December, 1888, and Worshipful Master in December, 1889.
He is a member and Past High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 43; a member and Past T. I. G. M. of Goodwin Council, No. 19, R., S. E. &S. HENRY CARPENTER.
[W. M., 1890 to 1891.]
HENRY CARPENTER was born November 29, 1859. He was edu- cated in the public schools of Lancaster city, after which he read law in the office of David G. Eshleman, Esq., and was admitted to the Lancaster Bar in 1881. He served for three terms as City

Solicitor, and on several occasions served as Delegate to Republican State Conventions. In 1892 he was the candidate of the Republican Party for Mayor of the City. He is a member of the City School Board having served in that position for the past ten years. He is also actively engaged in the practice of his profession.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, March 14, 1883; was elected Junior Warden in December, 1888; Senior Warden in De- cember, 1889, and Worshipful Master in December, 1890. He served for several years as Representative of Lodge No. 43 to the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, and was elected a Trustee in Decem- ber, 1905, which position he holds at this time.
He is a member and Past High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 43; a member and Past T. I. G. M. of Goodwin Council, No. 19, R., S. E. & S. GEORGE R. ROHRER. [W. M., 1891 to 1892.]
GEORGE R. ROHRER, M. D., was born in Middletown, Pa., in 1853, and is one of the four sons of Past Master Brother Jeremiah Rohrer who are members of Lodge No. 43, and who were raised to the degree of Master Mason in this Lodge by their father. He removed to Lancaster in 1864, and was educated in the common schools, graduating from the Lancaster High school. In 1870 he apprenticed himself to Wylie & Griest to learn the trade of printing, finishing his trade with their successors, the Inquirer Printing and Publishing Company. In 1876 he began the study of medicine with Past Master Bro. Dr. John L. Atlee, Jr., entering the University of Pennsylvania in October, 1877, and graduating from the Medical Department in 1880. He was resident physician in Philadelphia Hospital for one year, 1881 to '82, and House Surgeon in Wills Eye Hospital for one year, 1882-83. He began the practice of medicine in Lancaster in 1883; served as physician to Lancaster

County prison for four years; has been on the staff of St. Joseph's Hospital for twenty-one years, and on the Lancaster General Hos- pital for over sixteen years; was treasurer of the Lancaster County Medical Society for twenty years, until elected its President in 1907. He is expert examiner U. S. Pension Department on the Eye and Ear, receiving the appointment during President Grover Cleveland's administration. He is actively engaged in his profession, specializ- ing on the eye and ear.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, February II, 1885, was elected Junior Warden in December, 1889; Senior Warden in Decem- ber, 1890, and Worshipful Master in December, 1891. He has been Chairman of the Charity Committee of the Lodge for a number of years.
He is also a member and Past High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 43; a member and Past T. I. G. M. of Goodwin Council, No. 19, R., S. E. & S. M., and a member of Lancaster Commandery, No. 13, K. T.
JOHN R. KAUFFMAN. [W. M., 1892 to 1893.]
JOHN R. KAUFFMAN was born in East Hempfield township, about four miles west of Lancaster, April 10, 1851. In 1861 he removed to Lancaster, and was educated in the public schools of this City. . In 1868 he entered the drug store of John B. Markley, learning this business and became a proficient pharmacist, later he was employed in the drug stores of John F. Long & Sons, and H. B. Cochran. In 1880 he engaged in the drug business for himself, being located on North Queen Street, where he enjoyed a successful business, but owing to failing health he sold his interests in 1890, and for some years afterwards was representative of some of the leading Life Insurance Companies. In 1901 he was appointed an officer in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, in which position he is now engaged.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, June 10, 1885; elected Junior Warden in December, 1890; Senior Warden in December, 1891, and Worshipful Master in 1892.

JAMES C. WILEY. [W. M., 1893 to 1894.]
JAMES CAMERON WILEY was the youngest son of Major William M. Wiley, and was born in Lancaster, March 17, 1865. He was a student of the Hill School, Pottstown, Pa., and later at Lafayette College and Princeton University. He first engaged in business here with Brother John L. Metzger carrying on cigar manufactur- ing, but later pursued the same business alone, his factory being on North Lime Street, near the railroad. He died at the home of his sister, Mrs. Eugene G. Smith, in this city on December 11, 1897.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, November 10, 1886, elected Junior Warden in December, 1891; Senior Warden in De- cember, 1892, and Worshipful Master in December, 1893.

ANDREW H. HERSHEY.

ANDREW HIESTAND HERSHEY was born in East Hempfield town- ship (Spring Mills), Lancaster County, Pa., August 15, 1852, at- tending the public schools of that township, and spending the early years of his life on his father's farm. In 1864 he removed with his father to Rohrerstown. In 1869 he apprenticed himself to Wylie & Griest, of Lancaster, Pa., to learn the trade of printing, remaining with that firm and its successor the Inquirer Printing and Publishing Company, until the founding of The New Era, by Past Master

Bro. John B. Warfel, in 1877, when he took the position of foreman of the commerical printing department of that newspaper which position he retained until 1897, when he became one of the Company in the purchase of The New Era Printing House from Warfel & Geist, forming The New Era Printing Company, publishers of The Daily New Era, and The Semi-Weekly New Era, and doing an extensive printing business, in which he is still actively engaged.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, June 10, 1885, elected Junior Warden in December, 1892; Senior Warden in December, 1893, and Worshipful Master in December, 1894. He has also been a member of the Board of Trustees since December, 1906, and Representative to the Masonic Home, Philadelphia, for a number of years.
He is a member and Past High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 43, and Representative to the Grand Holy Royal Arch Chapter of Pennsylvania, since Dec. 27, 1901; a member and Past T. I. G. JOHN W. LANSINGER. [W. M., 1895 to 1896.]
JOHN W. LANSINGER was born in Littlestown, Adams County, Pa., January 5, 1858. He spent several years in the public schools of his native town, and one year in the public schools of Hanover, after which he spent five years in school at Loysville, Perry County, Pa., and taught his first term in the public schools of that county. In the spring of 1875 he entered the Millersville Normal School, alternating teaching in the public schools while studying at the Normal. He graduated at the Normal School in the Elementary Course in 1879, and was elected a teacher in that institution the same year. While teaching he also pursued the branches in the Scientific Course, graduating in that course in 1886. In 1888 he was elected Treasurer of the institution, and in 1905 Business Manager, both of which positions he holds at this time. He has put the best years of his life in his Alma Mater, and in his thirty-five

years' connection with it has seen many changes and improvements.
In 1898 he was elected a member of the National Educational Association, and has been active in its interests since, serving as State Director for Pennsylvania at the National Educational Asso- ciation meetings at Los Angeles, Charleston, Detroit, Boston, Asbury Park and San Francisco.
He was active in the location of the Masonic Home of the Right Worshipful Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, at Elizabethtown, giving much time and attention to securing the property, and afterwards in securing funds from the Lodges and Masons of Lancaster County towards a memorial for this County.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, October 12, 1881, elected Junior Warden in December, 1893; Senior Warden in De- cember, 1894, and Worshipful Master in December, 1895. He has also served the Right Worshipful Grand Lodge as District Deputy Grand Master for District No. I for the past eleven years.
He is a member and Past High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 43; a member and Past T. I. G. M. of Goodwin Council, No. 19, R., S. E. & S. M .; a member and Past Eminent Commander of Lancaster Commandery, No. 13, K. T., and was elected Grand Junior Warden of the Grand Commandery of Pennsylvania, at the Annual Conclave held in Lancaster, in May, 1910. He is a member of Lancaster Lodge of Perfection, a member of Harrisburg Consistory, 32°, and was created a Sovereign Grand Inspector-General, 33°, in 1904, A. A. S. R.
JOHN FREDERICK FISHER.

J. FRED. FISHER was born in Lancaster, Pa., in 1861, and was educated in the public schools of the city, after which he learned the trade of cabinet making and undertaking with Widmyer & Ricksecker. He also served for some years as a letter carrier in the Lancaster Post Office under Postmaster Henry E. Slaymaker; nine years in the ticket office of the Pennsylvania Railroad at Lancaster; two years as chief of Police under the administration of

Mayor Brother Simon Shissler. For the past six years he has been successfully carrying on the business of undertaking and funeral director at No. 128 North Duke Street, this city.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, March 13, 1889, elected Junior Warden, December, 1894; Senior Warden in December, 1895, and Worshipful Master in December, 1896. He has also served as Secretary of the Lodge from May, 1903, to December, 1903, and from April, 1905, to the present time.

DAVID E. LONG. [W. M., 1897 to 1898.]
DAVID E. LONG was born in East Lampeter township, Lancaster County, Pa., in 1847. He attended the public schools of the town- ship, afterwards learning the trade of milling, at which he worked for about eight years. In 1870 he removed to Lancaster City, entering into the employ of Robert J. Houston, who was engaged in the wholesale notion business; afterwards he entered the employ of Daniel S. Bursk in the grocery business. In 1881 he engaged in the grocery business for himself, at the corner of North Queen and Lemon Streets, where he also resides, and in which he is still actively engaged. He served one term in the Common Councils of the city, ten years in the Select Council, for two years of which he was President; and for ten years on the Board of School Directors, retiring two years ago.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, June 12, 1878, was, elected Senior Warden, December, 1896, and Worshipful Master in December, 1897.

ROBERT W. GROEZINGER was born in Lancaster, Pa., in 1868. He was educated in the public schools of the city, and graduated from the City High School in 1885. He learned the trade of leather tanning with his father, Brother Gustavus Groezinger, whom he suc- ceeded in the business in 1890, and in which he is still actively engaged.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, March 9, 1892, elected Junior Warden in December, 1896; Senior Warden in December, 1897, and Worshipful Master in 1898.

ALBERT D. PINKHAM.

ALBERT D. PINKHAM was born in Whitefield, N. H., in 1867. He received his earlier education in the common schools and the New Hampton, N. H., Literary Institution; he took the college preparatory course in the Lewiston, Me., High School, and received the degree of A. B. from Bates College, Lewiston, Me., in 1891, and the degree of A. M. three years later. In 1890 and 1891 he took special courses in the Summer School of Harvard College. He was elected a member of the Faculty of the State Normal School, Millersville, Pa., in 1891, and remained continuously with that institution until, 1904, at which time he resigned to become a member of the Faculty of the Ethical Culture School of New York City, with which institution he is still connected. For a number of years he has also served as Principal in the Vacation Schools of New York City under the New York Board of Education.

WILLIAM D. WEAVER. [W. M., 1900 to 1901.]
WILLIAM D. WEAVER was born on the homestead, near Spring Grove, East Earl township, Lancaster County, Pa., February 17, 1847. He attended the public schools at Spring Grove, Conestoga and at Goodville, and the select schools at Conestoga, Goodville and Hinkletown, and taught the Goodville School for two terms, after which he attended the State Normal School at Millersville, graduating in the Elementary Course and part of the Scientific Course in 1868. After graduating at the Normal School he taught the Goodville school in Lancaster County for two terms, and was Principal-teacher in 1869 in the Titusville, Crawford County, Pa., Soldiers' Orphans' School. In 1870-71 he was Principal of the Franklin Grammar School in Wilkesbarre, Pa., and from 1871 to 1873 was Principal of the High School at Coudersport, Pa. In October, 1873, he registered as a law student with Past Master Brother William Augustus Atlee, of Lancaster, and was admitted a member of the Lancaster Bar in 1875. In 1886 he was elected on the Republican Ticket as District Attorney for Lancaster County, receiving the highest vote on the ticket, serving for three years in a most acceptable manner. He was also admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and the United States District Court. He was a member of the Common Councils of Lancaster . City for three terms, serving on a number of the most important committees. He died in this city April 24, 1903.

He was made a Mason in Eulalia Lodge, No. 342, Coudersport, Pa., on January 10, 1872, and admitted to Lodge No. 43, March 14, 1883, and elected Junior Warden in December, 1898; Senior Warden in December, 1899, and Worshipful Master in December, 1900.
He was also a member of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 227, Empo- rium, Pa., from which he demitted, and was admitted a member of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 43, in 1883.
WILLIAM H. KELLER. [W. M., 1901 to 1902.]
WILLIAM HUESTIS KELLER was born at "Brothers Industry," Montgomery County, Maryland, August II, 1869, being a son of Daniel S. and Martha Eleanor (Huestis) Keller. He was educated in the public schools of Bellefonte, Pa., and at the Bellefonte Academy, afterwards attending Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa., graduating from that institution in 1891; after which he attended the George Washington University, Washington, D. C., graduating from the Law Department in 1893. Mr. Keller has made the Law his profession, and is now actively engaged in its practice in the city of Lancaster.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, January 9, 1895; was elected Junior Warden in December, 1899; Senior Warden in De- cember, 1900, and Worshipful Master in 1901.
FRANK H. RUDY. [W. M., 1902 to 1903.]
FRANK H. RUDY was born in Lancaster, Pa., January 22, 1871, educated in the public schools of the city, graduating from the High School in 1888. On leaving school he apprenticed himself to Flinn & Breneman to learn the trade of plumbing, afterwards entering the employ of the Pennsylvania Steel Co., at Sparrows Point, Md. He returned to Lancaster and again entered the employ of Flinn & Breneman, as foreman of their shops and as superintend-

ent, which position he occupied until his removal to Baltimore, where he engaged in business for himself. He now resides in Boston, Mass. He served as School Director of Lancaster for one term of three years, and was the youngest person elected to fill that position in the city. He also served as clerk of one of the Committees of City Councils.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, February 12, 1896; elected Junior Warden in December, 1900; Senior Warden in De- cember, 1901, and Worshipful Master in December, 1902. He also served as Secretary for one year.
He was a member and elected High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 43, but having removed from the Jurisdiction he did not fill the office, also a member of Goodwin Council No. 19, R., S. E. & S. M.
CHARLES L. MARSHALL.
[W. M., 1903 to 1904.]
CHARLES L. MARSHALL was born in Lancaster, Pa., April 15, 1872, and was educated in the public schools of the city. After occupying clerical positions in various capacities, he was for a number of years employed as bookkeeper for the clothing house of Myers & Rathfon, afterwards S. M. Myers & Co., and later as bookkeeper for the R. E. Roddy Candy Co. He is now senior member of the firm of Marshall and Lane, Wholesale Confectioners. Brother Marshall has the distinction of having the several degrees of Masonry conferred upon him by his father Past Master Brother William O. Marshall, that privilege being granted him by the Worshipful Master, Brother John W. Lansinger.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, February 12, 1896; elected Junior Warden in December, 1901; Senior Warden in De- cember, 1902, and Worshipful Master in December, 1903.

J. FRANK STEVENS.

J. FRANK STEVENS was born October 3, 1864, in the village of Three Springs, Huntingdon County, Pa., being the son of Asa S. and Sarah A. Stevens. He received his early education in the village school, after which he took up the higher studies with a private tutor. At the age of twenty years he removed to Lancaster with his parents, taking up the study of dentistry, his preceptor being Dr. W. L. Fisher, decd. In 1889 he matriculated at the University of Maryland, at Baltimore, graduating from that institu- tion in 1891, after which he returned to Lancaster and began the practice of his profession, which he continues at the present time.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, November 9, 1893, elected Junior Warden December, 1902; Senior Warden in De- cember, 1903, and Worshipful Master in 1904.
He is also a member of Royal Arch Chapter, No. 43, and of Lancaster Commandery, No. 13, K. T.
HERBERT C. MILLER.
[W. M., 1905 to 1906.]
HERBERT C. MILLER was born in Lancaster City November 16, 1871, was educated in the common schools of Lancaster, and gradu- ated from the Lancaster High School in the class of 1888. After a course in the Lancaster Business College, he entered the business office of The Lancaster Examiner, and in 1890 was elected to a clerkship in the Lancaster County National Bank. In 1892 he entered the employ of Reilly Bros. & Raub, as bookkeeper. In 1894 he accepted a position with The Lancaster Trust Company, and after various promotions became Assistant Treasurer, and in 1910 was elected Treasurer of The Lancaster Trust Company, which position he now holds.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, on February 12, 1896; elected Junior Warden in December, 1903; Senior Warden in De- cember, 1904, and Worshipful Master in December, 1905.

G. HOWARD SHERTS was born in the Borough of Strasburg, Lancaster County, Pa., in 1872, and educated in the schools of that Borough, afterwards learning the trade of printing at the Wickersham Printing Company in this city. In 1895 he entered his father's grocery store in this city in which he was engaged until the last year, when he entered into partnership with his brother in the manufacture of automobile tops, in which business he is now engaged.
He was made a Mason in Lodge No. 43, March 11, 1896; elected Junior Warden in December, 1904; Senior Warden in December, 1905, and Worshipful Master in December, 1906.

DANIEL SHERMAN SMITH.

DANIEL SHERMAN SMITH was born in Lampeter, Lancaster Co., Pa., September 21, 1864, moved to Columbia, Pa., in 1867, and then to Lancaster, Pa., in 1879. He was educated in the common schools of Columbia and Lancaster, graduating from the Lancaster High School in 1882. He then learned the trade of book-binding with H. L. Trout. In 1886 he took a position in the business office of the Philadelphia Press, where he remained two years. In 1888 he entered the Philadelphia Dental College, graduating from that institution in 1890, when he returned to Lancaster to practice his profession, in which he is now engaged.
