Mr. John Henson covered two large stores for me last summer, with his Pa- tent Expansive and Contractive Copper Roofs, and I am satisfied with them in every respect. There are no Roofs superior to them in Philadelphia : I ap- prove of them in relation to their principle and execution.
EZRA STILES ELY.
We the subscribers have our Dry Goods Establishment in these stores, and coucur with the above statement, and do further state for the information of gen- tlemen about to build, that these Roofs continued perfectly water tight this pre- sent inclement winter season. THOMAS P. REMINGTON, E. D. WHITNEY.
March 17, 1836.
Mr. John Henson covered the store we occupy in Commerce street, with Zinc, on his Patent Expansive and Contractive plan. Our store continued dry during the winter, no water having penetrated the roof, although covered with snow for several weeks. We are satisfied with the utility of Mr. Henson's plan, and take pleasure in recommending it to those about to build.
March 18, 1836.
STEWART & BROTHERS. Philadelphia, March 21, 1836.
I put up a brick building near 8th and Green, last Spring, and covered it with Zinc on the old plan of grooving the joint, owing to the expansion and contraction of the Zinc and the joints having no expansive and contractive power, the roof became so leaky I was obliged to employ Mr. Henson to take it off, work over the Zinc again, and put it on upon his Patent Expansive and Contractive Plan. This re-covering was attended with a great loss of Zinc and labour, and when finished cost me nearly the price of two roofs. No wa- ter entered the building since the patent roof was completed, and from its stand- ing the effects of the past winter, I am inclined to believe that it will remain water tight as long as the metal lasts. CLAYTON GASKILL.
