LOCOMOTIVE ENGINES.
EASTWICK & HARRISON,

Are prepared to receive orders for Machinery in their line, which they will engage to execute with promptness, and in a workmanlike manner.
They would particularly call the attention of Rail Road Companies to the improvements they have made in Locomotives, by which either Anthracite Coal or Wood can be used, with perfect facility, in boilers of the ordinary horizontal form. Also, to their eight-wheel Engines, which are admirably adapted to roads having high grades to overcome, and are capable of draw- ing heavier loads, with less injury to the road, than any other description of Engine of the same weight used in this country.
Satisfactory references can be given as to the power and workmanship of their Engines, by those who have used them.

ELECTRICO-MAGNETIC
REMEDIES,
OR MEDICINES FOR THE CURE OF CHRONIC DISEASES.
-
These remedies and medicines may be obtained at the Office of Dr. H. PARVIN, No. 126 Pine street.
Dr. P. has had long experience in the use of SHER- WOOD's Electro-Magnetic remedies ; will prescribe them in cases where they are efficacious, and is confident they will effect cures. He will treat all other cases either with the usual medicines, or with his ELECTRICO-GALVANICO MAGNETIC apparatus. His medicines all possess some modification of electrical affinity, and operate by the agency of that property.
Investigations in the theory of electricity, as connected with organized animal matter, and particularly in that of the human body, demonstrate that all animal motion is the natural effect of the two opposite poles, causing mus- cular contractions and expansions. Morbid action in the human system is an unequilibrium of natural motion, and cannot be removed from it except by the operative influ- ence of this invisible agent of nature. All medicines that have any tendency to remove morbific action from the sys- tem, must therefore necessarily possess some modification of electrical affinity, as there is no other operative pro- perty by which to increase, diminish, or change natural motion. It is obviously impossible for the human body to be in a diseased condition, and at the same time in a state of equilibrium of natural motion-for a universal equilibrium of natural motion in the human system consti- tutes PERFECT HEALTH.
Dr. Parvin also visits Patients at their Re- sidence.

THE WASHINGTON HOUSE, CAPT. J. P. JEFFRIES,
No. 223 Chestnut Street, next door to the Masonic Hall,
PHILADELPHIA.
THIS splendid NEW HOTEL is now open for the reception of company. The establishment was begun, continued, and finished, with the express design of securing to the city of Philadelphia the desideratum-a house ca- pacious, yet commodious -- public, yet private. A Hotel, where men of bu- siness might find accommodations suited to their active habits ; and where families might enjoy all the comforts of a private, fashionable mansion. How far the proprietor has fulfilled this object, he confidently submits to the opi- nion of those who may please to honor THE WASHINGTON with a visit.
The situation is one of the most central, in the most fashionable street in this city. The Public Dining Room, and Public Parlor for Gentlemen, are on the most extensive scale. The Private Parlors for Ladies and Fa- milies, to which there is a private entrance, are furnished in the most taste- ful and fashionable style. The Ladies' Dining Room, or Private Ordinary, is arranged in keeping with the Private Parlors, all of which cannot be ex- celled in design and finish.
To those of the travelling public, whom the proprietor has had the honor to serve in his capacity of Master of the Steamboats of New York, Philadel- phia, and Baltimore, he needs say but little, trusting his assiduity heretofore will prove to them a sure guarantee for the future. But to all who may favor him with their company, he pledges an unremitting watchfulness and attention, to secure to them comfort and convenience, whilst sojourning at THE WASHINGTON.

COOKING
E .BARROWNO PHILAD!
E. BARROW
PATENT
RANGE.
The undersigned has made arrangements with Mr. Barrow to make and vend the above articles. This apparatus was exhibited at the last Fair of the Franklin Institute, where its superiority over all others exhibited, was attested by obtaining from the Committee on Premiums, the SILVER MEDAL. Boilers can be placed back of the cylinder, which will, with the same fire, supply sufficient hot water for bathing and culinary purposes.
SAMUEL LLOYD, 406 Market Street.
The following certificate will show the estimation in which it is held by those who have used it :
The undersigned have had in use in their families, for some time past, Barrow's Patent Cooking Range, which has operated to their entire satisfaction. Its simplicity is such that any person desirous of using it, can do so without difficulty, while at the same time it will do more cooking with a similar amount of fuel than any other apparatus that has come under our observation.

COOK
WOODSIDE S.
STOVES.
AULD & COX'S PATENT. MANUFACTURED AND SOLD BY SAMUEL LLOYD,
406 MARKET STREET, PHILADELPHIA.
The above Stove, which is entirely original, and totally different from any of its predecessors, has succeeded even beyond the most sanguine hopes of those who study domestic comfort and economy.
These Stoves preserve an even temperature and pure atmosphere, by carrying off the gas, effluvia and surplus heat, while all danger from accidents by fire is effectually prevented. They may also be used as PORTABLE AIR HEATERS, to warm the apartments over them. Different sizes, calculated for Hotels, Steamboats and private families, are supplied by the manufacturers on reasonable terms.
For the accommodation of those who cannot conveniently procure Anthracite coal, a pattern for burning wood, and another for Bituminous coal, has been con- structed.
The subscribers, having used AULD & Cox's PATENT COOKING STOVE, cheerfully testify to its great superiority over all others with which they are acquainted ; and certify that said Stove requires but one ton of coal to do the cooking for a family of more than forty persons, for three months, and that said Stove is managed with very little trouble, and performs every variety of cooking in the best manner.
