LIGHTNING RODS.
The awful calamities that every City, Town, Village, and Country falls victim to annually, through the gross negligence of its inhabitants, is beyond calcu- lation, and especially when the remedy is so easy to obtain-this is found in
ARMI AGE'S Patent Magnetic Lightning Rods,
And in this alone. This Rod has been examined by the most scientific gentlemen in the world-Professors M.Murtrie, Johnson, Wallor, and many others that have examined them, recommend and speak of them in the highest terms of approba- tion, and have pronounced them the only safe Rods now in use in this or any other country, FOR THE PROTECTION OF LIVES AND PROPERTY. One advantage is to divide and throw back a part of the electric fluid harmless to the clouds ; this in time of a Stroke, enables the Rod to conduct that portion of fluid that belongs to the earth without the slighest danger of leaving the conductor. This Rod has many other advantages over the old one. The only place of Manufacturing is in
Vine Street, three doors above Twelfth, Phila.
where all persons are respectfully invited to call und examine for themselves. FOR SALE, WHOLESALE AND RETAIL.

Beware of Infringements.
These Machines are adapted to all kinds of work, with any kind of thread, and are wholly unlike all others in use. They sew without a Shuttle, using a continuous thread of any size desired from stationary spools, and form a new and fast stitch, which for beauty and strength is unequalled. The threads are securely tied at each stitch, and the seam, unlike that formed by any other machine, will not rip, but remain firm even when every third stitch is cut.
They make with the same facility, straight, curved and irregular seams in fabrics and leather of any thickness, and are the only Machines which make a fast and fine stitch. Our patents are all upon the stitch itself, and all modes of making it, and all persons are cautioned against making, using, or vending any machine making a fast and fair stitch with two needles from spools, as all such infringe directly our patents, and will be dealt with accordingly. Descriptive pamphlets containing evidence from persons using hundreds sent to all who wish.

SAMUEL SIMES' PURE COD LIVER OIL.
NO KNOWN TEST will recognise pure Cod, from other fish liver oils, or even from extensive sophistication with otner oile. The character of the manufacturer is the only guarantee of genuineness.
COMMERCIAL, OIL is seldom or NEVER pure; Hake, Pollock, Haddock, Dogfish, even Seal, Lard, or Whale oils, con- stitute portions or wholly the article usually supplied as Cod Liver Oil; jeopardizing the life of the patient and sapping the reputation of both vender and physician.
PERSONAL INVESTIGATION of the above facts induced me at considerable expense to supply my customers with an article of MY OWN MANUFACTURE. The extraordinary favor it has received ; its great superiority in quality, appear- ance, and effectiveness, have created a demand which enables me to give that personal supervision to its manufacture by which I am enabled to guarantee it absolutely pure and unequalled by any other.
My oil Is separated from fresh and healthy Livers of the Cod alone, the same day the fish are caught, by a proress which yields it just as it naturally exists in the liver cells of the live fish; so bland and fresh, that the most sensitive palato will take it with pleasure; contradistinguished from all others by its unaltered natural condition, by its per fect transparency, absolute purity, and freshness, it has received the patronage of the first physicians throughout the con- tinent, an award from the Franklin Institute of Philadelphia. and the medal at the World's Fair, London.
It is handsomely wrapped, in large bottles, each accompanied by an elaborate treatise, illustrative of its source, pre- paration. properties, &c .. &c., and carefully packed for transportation.
ETPURCHASERS AND CONSUMERS desirous of employing the pure tasteless Oil, should be very cautious in ob serving that my name is impressed upon every bottle, and my written signature in ruby ink upon every label.
A LIST OF PRICES, with my copy-righted illustrated treatise, will be furnished gratis to post-paid applicants.
